Yes, but does'nt that mean that if this server is forced to shut down we are getting trouble to log on?
Maybe it should be wise to think about how to get by that....

Anyway, the IP list is probably stored in some file, so even if this server was shut down, then you could probably redownload this file off some website (this one!).

Only if all your supernode IPs stored in the registry (200 IPs) don't work you cannot use Kazaa. Kazaa gets new supernode IPs at regular intervals and updates the registry while it's running. It removes bad supernode IPs and replaces them with supernode IPs that work.

so why do they run that server?
Posted by: Paul
That server is only used is Kazaa can't find any working Supernode at all in the list that is stored in the registry.

Dam! If the lawsuit on Sharman Networks follows through, we're history. We'll have to subside to somethin' crappy like BearShare.

No. Didn't you read that we just said that Kazaa stores supernode IPs in the registry and updates it regularly?

I agree, and besides they won't be able to shut down the server, since it doesn't index copyrighted material or anything like that
there ar eNO laws against doing what that server does, and it will take a while before Sharman gets nicked and then we'll just have a nice file here on he website with some supernode IP's for the extreme case when none of the ip's work...
P.S. This is hardly new information...
Edit: added something
