If You Find A Fake.

For those of you who find a FAKE.
Please do us all a favor. Either DELETE it or Rename it to the Correct Name. Also post it in the Fake Section.
It would help us all.
:D :D

wel i know that thay keep it cause that whont there participation level to grow or thay whont you to download the fake just like thay did

Belive it or not, some people think it is a good way to not get caught with a particular file too.
Just think of the kids who use kazaa and the porn they want to hide from their family

I think you should keep the file a while just rename it and message every user uploading it from you.
that way you can prevent others from downloading it as well.

If i found fake file i do three thing:
1. Delte the file
or
2. Change the file name (if i know which one is it.)
or
3. Stop/don't share fakes files. (if i like the file and want to see that)
:D :)

SuperJude™ hits the delete button. I won't waste my time on fakes, and the verifieds I keep on my PC usually get out there, so I don't think I need to really keep fakes, though I haven't gotten a fake in quite some time now.

I haven't had a fake for a while now. I always use the verifieds section before downloading

Ah, where is the fake section ??
;)

why do ppl post fakes, thats just stupid, i mean you spend at least a good hour downloading a movie (i have DSL 1.0Mbps) and it wont let you preview, then when you are done is not the movie or sometimes the screen is just black and yes i have all the codecs you can think of, sometimes you are able to tell by the file name that thats not the file that you want but in some other cases you can't see anything.

We have a solution to select fakes out.
It's a small proggie by FTFakes. You find it @ FasttrackHelp (http://www.fasttrackhelp.com/downloadcenter.php).
But we haven't time enough in the last days to write an english manual. Sorry :)
Please help us testing that new prog: FTFakes
For Questions post in that forum or in our forum.
We are with you :)

Personally, I'm on a fast connection, so when I download a fake, I just delete it. You certainly could rename the file, but then multiple copies of the same file get circulated with different names. Renaming files is a huge problem, but its been happening for years. We are all here getting "free" files. I really don't think this happens often enough to be a problem.--

Now the "Verifieds" has gone from this board, so have the "Fakes" section as well - sorry Bro :(

Delete the freaking things! I only download songs that have multiple copies out there.

We have the possibility to register all fakes.
It's very interesting :P You find the sources of fakes :P
The only you have to do, is collect the filehash in the fakelist and share this list in KaZaa.
The FTFakes project is momentary paused (cause of KaZuperNodes), in the next time we go on.

That isn't always enough to tell it's not a fake. Many users just leave these things with no changes done to their filenames, descriptions etc., and just keep sharing them. Myself, I don't usually come across fakes, since I mostly use verifieds, but if I do, I either change the name and description if the thing is worth keeping on my hdd at all (can't rember now what it was, but once I was actually quite happy to have dl'ed something this way :)), or get rid of it if it's crap.

If people are just renaming files, then if I am sharing the same file before they renamed it, would my movie be added to there sources to download from under the new file name. The same movie from the same list of sources can have different file names, different metadata, and even filesize varying by a byte or two.
Therefore maybe not every one is keeping fakes but verifieds before they where fakes

What exactly does FTFakes do? It would help if you described WHAT a program does before you suggest people download it!
;)

Sorry, we have momentary a lot to do.
Just a short introduction.
This program is only in German at this time.
And we have a short and still incomprehensible manual.
Thats all.
What this program does?
You find a fake, add the filehash of a fake to the fakelist.
FTFakes avoids the download of a file thats registered as fake.
Yeah, and of course you set this fakelist in your share.
Friends changing fakelist and protect eachother to download fakes. :D
Sorry again that the english version and manual is still unfinished.
Wait or try to find out. :P
It works!
I agree that it is better to register the originals. Maybe we need both.

Or you can report it to us and we will block it. Included in the program is a fakes reporting system.
Peerbuddy for Kazaa A P2P Firewall/Quality Filter Beta block list now at 2,200,000 IP’s blocked.
The block list has been updated and now currently blocks over 2,200,000 IP addresses. New additions to the list are being found daily. Beta users will get an email with an update link. New beta users are encouraged to join at http://www.isopleth.com/peerbuddy.htm . No Ad-ware, Spy-ware or viruses.
PeerBuddy is a mini firewall for P2P (Kazaa, EMule, etc). The program filters out the IP addresses of people who share blank, or faked files and it prevents you from wasting your time downloading those bad files. This will help with your downloads since a number of organizations and individuals are sharing bad and blank files out there. It is also going to be blocking known email miners, stalkers, spammers and surveillance companies.
