Get Verifieds Off The Chat Room
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)Posted by: sockpuppet
I think a temporary way to get verified lists would be if we joined mIRC and sent eachother the lists in txt format.
Here's the room:
/server irc.quakenet.org
/join #KLchat
What do you guys think?

Seems like a good idea... As long as the people that have the verified are on there anyway... Logging onto there now.

Yep a bunch of us have used it the last couple days. I mean we all pretty much trust eachother so they are verifieds.
Worth a try, I tell ya.

Either that or we just send them to each other in there. SJ and I trade stuff all the time... LMAO
But seriously, I think that's a great solution for the time being.

good idea :D

can someone point me to a begginers guide for irc please

You could try this (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/bb/index.php?act=ST&f=5&t=11599) one. :P

ok...and how do u get lists of the users? Is there a toturial also or what? ;)
Posted by: Bender
There's a MUCH easier way!
Rat Faced and Skweeky are sharing DIRECTLY at the moment.
Rat Faced has set up a FTP server so Skweeky can look directly in HIS Shared Folder for what she needs.
Don't ask me for the details, I'm still too 'noob' for that, but RF said it's very easy to do.

Or you people can register and post on The FastTrack Central Forum (http://www.fasttrackmovies.com/forum/active.asp).

Are you serious about that?
This is OUR board, that is THEIR board. <_<

So what? K-Lite users are one big community.. They're seeking and sharing verified files like everyone here.

But we have a BIG pr0n collection, which I heard cannot be posted on the FasTrack forum. <_<

Who cares about the porn. My concern is newbies flooding the chat room and screwing up the level of trust in there. For the most part, we all know each other, and I like it that way.
Posted by: Twist3r
we should be proude of our pr0n secton!!! its a great thing
Posted by: Knuckles187
god dont you just love it when you are asked about these thing's......
and yes this is a worry people arsing about...
our chatroom is a small community.. but a good one, everyone is more then welcome but at the same time... those guys (and girl) with the @'s will not hesistate to kick you if you do not behave :)
please be aware of the rules Here (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/bb/index.php?act=ST&f=5&t=11599)
thankyou :)
(p.s was wondering why we were so full tonight)

All the new people coming to chat have been really cool, and seriously we could use some "cross communication" between the mods/admins of this board and the people in chat.
A lot of people come into chat with specific questions about k-lite, the site, filesharing etc. and it would not be a bad idea for any new information to be passed along so that people in chat can have answers for questions we might not ordinarilly be able to answer.
File swapping over mIRC can take a couple forms, the direct download version, and the fserv where you type the !file command, or as it was last night the !ug command (hope it all got sorted out ugluk!).
Pop in say hello!

Nice to see that the chat room is getting so much support. If i had more time, i would gladly sit there all day and night - but :(
Also, be carefull because - as has been pointed out by more than one illustrious member - the user names on quakenet are NOT exclusive, so anyone can logon as YOU and give out info that is not correct. I dont want to put a spanner in the works, but more viruses and crap have been spread by chat-sites and FTP than any other medium around.
Go on then - prove me wrong :D :D

Well UKMan you are right of course, which is why it helps to be on a friendly channel.
Now not everybody is as obsessive as I about things, but usually whenever somebody logs into mIRC I do a whois. old habits die hard, even after not using mIRC for over a year.
First off I scan everything anyway, but really you spend time with people on a board and in chat, you get to know people and who to trust. We seem to have a pretty decent group of people and really you could only act like somebody else for so long, though NeoShoyru and I certainly demonstrated the dangers of unregged nics by switching usernames earlier.
But still and all a good crowd and the likelyhood of an infiltrator lasting long is just about nill.
It works too, the mirc thing, though I mostly only download pictures of hot chicks (Ohh Nikki, you really are the best girl!) and music, though I have sent about 10 copies of Steve-o (from jackass) Don't Try this At Home to people.
Or, just give a shout.

@SuperJude
Is it possible to do a whois as a normal user? I mean, can i see your IP as a normal member - i only thought that was possible with the Mods. Or do you mean before you actually download something from someone?
Posted by: Jibbler
Yes, UKMan you can /whois anyone. IRC is a truly untapped resource. Its complexity is easily overcome, and the community is excellent.--

Next question which is obviously on my mind.... How? I know how to do a whois when i have the IP - but not when i´m in a chat room <_<
Posted by: sockpuppet
/whois <nickname> (gets you their information)
/dns <nickname> (gets you their ip address)
Posted by: SuperJude™
You enter those commands into your dialogue box and type it in. On your "backscreen" i.e. the one behind the chat screen you would be using for KLchat is the server screen.
That info is displayed there and anybody can do it.
;)

Yes - i registered myself when the chat room first started - but its not the same as registering your nick. For instance, if i was to "go away" for a while and change my nick to "UKMan[away]", then someone else can straight away change/or logon as UKMan! - Thats a bit silly dont you agree?
