So you think that because you have a firewall your safe from hackers....wrong,your not.

Don't believe me,well try these tests.They test various vulnerabilities that show whether your as safe as you think....I thought i was safe but failed 2 of the tests :unsure:

Well worth just seeing and post your results,be interesting to see how everyone did....

Break into my computer (http://browsercheck.qualys.com/) ;)

Posted by: Xyrex

Cool.
It can get all my information (IP, OS ect) of my computer but the "my browser hacks" were ineffective.

:D Great test didnt know anyone could even get that much info on me hope its not a hoax site?firewall stood up also have xp doing auto updates.

Before you all start worrying read this first:
http://evidence-eliminator-sucks.com/eesuc...gus-warning.php (http://evidence-eliminator-sucks.com/eesucks/bogus-warning.php)

The above link is a scam that Evidence Elliminator uses to cheat potential customers into buying their products!!

I know TBO is trying to help - and thats good because he is - but a lot of the info that is displayed with the "break into my computer link" does not actually get sent anywhere - its just visible to YOU!!

None the less - a great post and a good warning to all to keep updated. I tried the link and passed with flying colours :D

THX TBO

@ UKMan...I feel as though your point might have made people think that the link i put up has something to do with EE...this is not the case.As for the info not being sent anywhere and just being visable by you thats very true but what if the site you surf to is run by undesireables who like to share info on who frequents their sites...
...This is an independant site that warns of vulnerabilities,that 'hackers' could use to get info about you....

@inky its not a hoax site,first used it a while ago now.

@starstorm...lets say you were silly enough to copy&paste your address or credit card number somewhere....

Thanks&p£ac£ ;)

I quite agree - your post had nothing to do with EE - so sorry to all who might have missunderstood that ;) I was just making a point about most of these scripts.
Yes, undesirables are everywhere and of course cookies and Java are the biggest culprits. I would like to emphasise though that your post was a GOOD one Bro ;)

ukm an how come that site can see my harddrive
not all of it but bits
and how come it tells me i use mozilla 4

Posted by: vivitron 15

phew, panic over. i've downloaded the recommended stuff from M$, and i passed em all. (except the clipboard one but i don't think its too important. will just make sure i don't copy anything stupid like credit card numbers)

thanks for the link :D :D

Posted by: 4play

internet explorer calls itself mozilla 4.0.

and it can probably only see bits because thats the way the javascript works.

i have played with this before and it does nothing appart from show the contents of your hard drive to you.
no information is sent back to the server.

Mozilla was the original code name for the product that came to be known as Netscape Navigator, and later, Netscape Communicator. It is not affiliated with Internet Explorer in any way. More info can be found at Here. (http://www.mozilla.org) --

Passed with flying colors.

Posted by: WebCheF

Yaay!! <_<

I don't know what's up wit mine, I got to the sencond test and Oh shhhhhiiii.............." ALERT V' ALERT" You are infected with 'explot----someting or another.

Guess I failed. :angry:

Scan time again. and update too.

Posted by: imported_computerfreak76

these kinds of sites use these scare tactics in order for you to buy their products. some people see they failed and are like OH SHI* i have to fix this right away and will buy their products.

all most people really need is a good firewall, up to date antivirus definitions,
ad-aware or spybot (for spyware and adware) and check the windows update site for new security patches.

It cannot see your HD - its using a script that shows YOU your HD. (unless you have shared out your HD to everyone - which i hopefully doubt - ;) )
The Mozilla4 has allready been explained.

thank's for the post TBO
my PC passed all the tests no problems
it's good to know i'm safe. :D

Posted by: scribblec

K SAFE POEPLE thats kinda clever
but i never buy online anyway

Posted by: UKMan

@TBO - this turned out to be a very good post from you as it has opened up some of the problems most people think they have when visiting sites that wanna sell you so called "security" proggs and cheat you into thinking you have major problems.

Mind you, a lot of us do have major problems, no firewall, no antivirus etc - so this has been a great reminder too ;)

Posted by: FlamingYob

I failed them all, how is this possible? I have Norton Firewall installed, it's full updated aswell.

Posted by: Mivaro

I appear to be safe, and that with free zonealarm...... :D

Posted by: Jibbler

FlamingYob, the security settings on your browser have probably been changed, and that could be causing these "browser exploits" to work when they shouldn't. Personally, I find the default settings in Internet Explorer to be fine when used with Norton A/V and a good firewall. :huh: --

Posted by: scribblec

flame no idea but if u have anything important in your hdrive delete or put on cd cos u will get viruses and stuff
get avg and sygate firewall
they worked good enough for me untill i got more powerful ones for money
but those 2 are freeeeeeeeeeeeee

Posted by: Sibre

Good thing...I passed every test...guess this damn college firewall is good for something after all...other than that, I hate it. They disable too much stuff and shut us down if we have a lot of traffic to our computers, and if we have ANY significant traffic from (we can't even share files with friends off campus) I HATE IT!!! But I am safe from attacks

Sorry for the blabbing...

Posted by: opie29

the only positive "hit" i got was on my clipboard...good enough for me as i don't cut/paste or copy anything important there anyway....thanks for the site

Posted by: ClearYourMind

Thanks for posting that site. The only thing that site was able to get was my browser's URL history. Which was only because I had to disable some cookie settings on ZoneAlarm Pro just to be able to even take the test. For example, I had to permite web bugs, and I had them blocked, as well as persitant cookies.

Norton and McAfee both have similar tests, and there are others I'm sure. It's not just the fact that you had a firewall or AV program. Its that you have the best ones at the present time. Right now, I use PC-Cillion AntiVirus, ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall, McAfee's SpamKiller 4.0, Ab Subtract Pro (good privacy tool), JTSoft's StartUp Manager 1.0 (shows stuff now found in your startup folder, helped stop McAfee's splash screen on startup and also did other things as well), eDexter (so I didn't get error messages when used with SuperTick), and SuperTick (just an added bonus to ZoneAlarm Pro and Ad Subtract Pro). Also have Ad-aware, and we all know thats a must have.

With all that, I'm secure as hell. Plus I don't ever give out my e-mail, instead I give out self-destructing ones (e.g SpamGourmet.com) and my main browser is Opera 7 and SlimBrowser (I find it much better then Avent Browser).

A few years back I used McAfee for my AV cuz at the time it was the best, then later I used Norton when it became the best. I don't stay loyal to one program for sh**. I simply use the best of the crop, I don't trust them "I can do it all and more" utilties. Also, if all I'm going to do is browse a few websites, I'll go on Linux (Lycoris Desktop LX). I only go on Windows XP when I need to print something only cuz my printer dosn't have a linux compatible driver, and when I wish to listen to audio, again I have an intergrated sound/modem combo card which isn't compatible with linux. Be paranoid, be very paranoid!

Big brother...and his little sister too. are Both, watching You! :ph34r:

it wont even admit im running explorer, it says im not running it on a windows based platform, im browsing in stelth mode in my fire wall :D

Posted by: Leech_Killer

Passed all but one, the clipboard test, so I'm happy with that. It's a pity that it only works with Internet Explorer as normally I only use Netscape as I find it's a lot better than IE, has being for a long time.

I also have a copy of Evidence Eliminator v5.057, which I find very useful at clearing all the tempory files out. The first time I used it it freed up 50Mb of hard-drive space and I'm pretty tide with my PC files, as I clear out my cache files daily. I didn't buy it though, I just downloaded the 30 day trial and found the crack for it. :D

If you get the 30 day trail version 5.057, the code is:-

**sorry no sn**

Posted by: Fusen

yeah I wonder if they used php to find all that info cos I know php but havnt seen any sources that get all the info on the first page.. and I failed all but 1 test lol I'm on a computer at school and these are shit so who really cares =P

so now everything is ok ;)

thx for this B)

Posted by: si|verknight

huh....failed 4 of the tests... but ive fixed it now.... thanx for the cool site :P

Posted by: TRshady

:unsure: I weren't trying to make the site sound bad, just bringing up a few points no-one mentioned yet. It is good though.

Posted by: KazaaSearch

I remember i wrote such "tests" at dawn of my javascripting experience. Actually if you have latest IE patch and internet security set to High, all of such primitive javascript- and activex-tricks will never work. i got only error messages when clicking on any of their "tests". i tried all.

Posted by: KazaaSearch

sorry i can't show my old javascript page in english, it exists only in russian:

http://beep.ru/~urzh/

only for those who can read it ;)

Posted by: lunatacs

:blink: hmm, that site had no effect on me. I'm behind proxy and all it did, is show me the infomation of my proxy and other lines were empty.

its nice trick but that site only gives away your ip other information is useless

cheers

it is absolutely right what kazaasearch wrote but with "high security" surfing is a little bit "hard" :D

hello ukman again ;)

here for that guy with the "harddrive question" the simpliest code to show parts of harddrive of your own machine:

<html>
<body>
<iframe src="nopic.jpg" name="Fenster">
</iframe>

<iframe src="file:///c:" name="Fenster">
</iframe>

more info (file:///c:)
</body>
</html>

this worked if a drive c: exists, but i think most of the people have this :D

It originates from the idea of who made it off the battlefield with their flag still flying, or in other words, who won the battle. :)
