Speeding Up Downloads

Firstly, i'm sorry for using such description of the topic to get Your attention.
I have been thinking lately of some way to SPEED UP the downloads. Some people say - disconnect people who are uploading and not sharing files. It is really a great idea but it is not enought. They will connect again and again using auto-resume option in such programs as Kazoom.

I came up with an idea of creating small programme such as Kazoom for ex, which would automatically disconnect those users. I wonder what what do You think about this. In my belief such process would significantly increase the speed of downloads itself and increase the total number of shared files. The thing is, I don't have enough programming skills. Maybe someone is intrested? Reply please.

I would like to see such a feature. The only thing that concerns me is the method used to 'see' if they are sharing. I have used the 'Find more files from this user' with inconsistant results. Sometimes I only get to see someones list of shares after 4 or more tries.

I would just not want your new addon to cut people who share. As for those that don't well.... :P

Kazaa_Kontrol already does this and a few other things.

However I have been told, re-iterated by N1234 that the find files is not accurate. As such it cuts off people who are actually sharing. It is obviously a matter for you, however I would rather let a few leechers get my files than cut off genuine sharers.

All down to personal choice

A funny thing. You have to pay for adware to a freeware...

Posted by: daniels83

Luckily You can find it on Kazaa.... :-)

Sorry

I don't know what that last post means.

Do you think I was suggeting you pay for something. I was pointing you in the direction of a website which explains what a piece of software does. If you choose to buy something from someone then please feel free to do so. If you choose to look elsewhere that's also up to you.

Is this a difficult concept.

PS my sentiment exactly

Don't use Kazaakontrol. It will cut off people who are sharing and anyone cut off just reconnects and then gets disconnected again over and over. A waste of your upload slots and bandwidth.

Since there are users on the Kazaa network, using different versions of Kazaa, K++, Diet K, etc, there really is no way to identify users who don't share. Unless someone is willing to re-code K++ to force every user to share, then there is nothing that can be done. This problem has been around for years, especially over IRC and Newsgroups where most of these files first hit the network.--

I say just try to ignore the leechers and get on with enjoying yourself. Don't waste your time getting annoyed about it. It's up to them what they do. We support freedom of choice don't we. We can't get upset when people chose a different road from us. Well of course we can but is it worth it.

Given the nature of Fast Track etc it's difficult to take the moral high ground.

I agree with JimF. Why waste your time becoming a couch/chair potatoe when you need to exercise and work out your muscles and your heart! You'll probably die next to that computer of yours if you try to stop every single leecher. Besides, think about this, If you download off an F*P (that has no ratio), newsgroup, IRC or any DDL site, then your leeching. They want to share that file to you and you should have the same attitude. So SHARE SHARE SHARE whether or not someone else does... Also, if you start disconnecting every possible leecher, that would also make you a leecher.

 Yeah but then I would miss my beer belly...I kind of like it...it is a part of me now...it is my freind.

Whenever I do you Kazaa Lite(which is very rare) I never look to see if somebody is sharing from me anyways...it takes you to a whole nother screen and lets say you are looking at somebodys files...BOOM you have to load them all over again...god I hate that.

You've alluded to this before. If there's an alternative / better method then could you share with us. Or do you never download at all.

PS I enjoy my beer belly as well. Feck it cost me enough.

I do check to see what they are sharing. However simply because they are downloading from me. As such they may have similar tastes and have something I might want. If they are not sharing I tend to be mellow about the whole thing.

Cheers
