You more than likely need codecs. Go to the download page here (http://doa2.host.sk/) and download and install the audio & video codecs.

Well sorry 'bout that. My next suggestion that really seems to help people out with this kind of problem is to go to divx.com and download & install the free divx bundle. It has the latest divx codecs & includes the Divx player. Its a pretty good little player but it wont play stuff like mpeg's. Great for most avi's you download from kazaa though. I have it set up as my default player. Give that a try.
If theres still a problem Im not sure what to try next.
Good luck. May the force be with you.

Ewwwwwwwwwwww yuckie. Real Player One? That ones a challenge to keep from winding up on your computer. So far, Im winning.
Decent player but I don't like the way Real tries to force themselves on you.
I am pretty sure Kazaa's player uses windows media player so if it wont work on WMP it wont work in the Kazaa Theater.

You probably jus need codecs. I had to get the XviD 3.x and 4.x. Then another .avi file I needed the Xvid 5.x codec. Then the XviD, then AC3 audio codec!!! I think I got all my bases covered now! It gets confusing. Next they'll be using mp4 for the audio just to keep us on our toes!! Check out this (http://www.afterdawn.com) or this (http://www.divxcity.com)or this (http://www.divxity.com) or this (http://www.divx-digest.com) or this! (http://www.divx.com)

Another tip is to right click on the file in your shared file then choose properties. . Should tell you the Audio and Video Format and Codecs used. You usually can do a normal search for the codec for afree download.

Go to the download section at the main page ( http://doa2.host.sk ) and get Gspot Codec finder.

Don't get one of those heavy players. Uninstall all your codecs. Then install KL codecs 2.0 w/BSPlayer. That works for me.

Quicktime plays Avi files.
I just use the old faithfull WMP, sometimes if they is a codec missing it will download it for you. :D
But yeah as above, your probably missing codecs if you cant play your films. ;)

AVI is a much overused extension - covers both compressed AVI (many versions)and uncompressed AVI as well as several different methods of compression (e.g. indeo 5 .1 - divx ver3 , DivX4:-), DivX5:-), Xvid, etc etc) Microsoft codecs include mpeg4 as well which are saved as AVI jus to make the situation as clear as mud.
My personal solution is to have windows media player uptodate (automatic updates) . I have DivX5.02 installed and the latest Xvid codecs as well.
Although I have all the latest players installed I only use WMP 9 for WMV9 format encoded files. I dont use the DivX player at all.
(note: I dont have divx3 codecs(originally a rip-off of Microsoft technology) installed because 4 and 5 are far superior, not because divx3 is illegal)
I only use the ancient windows media player 6.4 to play AVI - divx - xvid - mpeg4,2,1
Windows XP users may be surprised to learn that this excellent no-frills player actually ships with XP - test it out by clicking 'start' then 'run' and type in 'mplayer2'
This handles all my divergent avi files brilliantly, so long as the codecs are installed for that particular avi.
An added bonus with 6.4 is that you can access the properties of the AVI file to find out framerate (is it PAL or NTSC or other),codec required(both audio and video) and more - another BRILLIANT prog for AVI is virtualdub by avery lee - this can be used for capture video - edit -convert -seperate sound from audio - and much more -- no I wont go on about it (losing the thread) its great is all i can say
