Best Cards For Proformance

Which is a good card for Proformance, besides the ghaphic and FX..
ATI RADEON™ 9800 or 128MB DDR GeForce FX 5200....
Posted by: Evil Gemini
:o OMG man the ATI RADEON 9800 pisses over the FX 5200
Posted by: L0rD_S0tH
comparing a fx 5200 to a 9800!? Thats nuts. Go with the 9800 all the way.
Did you mean the Fx 5900? or 5950?
Posted by: raiserblade2003
well if u are comparing those 2 it seem kinda unfair. the 5200 is the low end card, like the mx series. but then again, the 9800 cost 3x as much as the 5200.
Posted by: Supernatural
Depends on how much you are willing to spend. Get a Radeon 9800 if if u can afford it, or a GeForce 5950. 9700 are great deals if u can find them. There are still a couple circling around, so snatch one up while you can. Radeon 9600 is the best of the mid-ranged cards, as you will have to be very lucky to find a Radeon 9500. GeForce 5600 should be the bare minimum. Don't waste your money on the low end 5200 or Radeon 9000/9100/9200.
PS. Do not, under any circumstances, get the GeForce 5800. It's expensive and you don't get the performance you pay for. Radeon is better.

bought me a dell computer the 2400 at dell.com it asked me which one you want, out of those 2 thats why i asked so i went and got me
*** ATI RADEON 9800 *** it only cost me 180 :D :D :D real price for the card by itself to bulid it in is like 400 right?? well thanks for da tip.....
Posted by: reignking
no. 180 is about right for a non pro 9800...
it's still a heck of a card though and depending on which type you got could be modded into into a pro...

Most 2400's suck. There not expandable and usually come with Celerons....what does yours have? Cuz it might not even be fast enough to use that to the best of its advantages...but have fun

Uh no. My x had a 2400. It had a 2.4 Ghz celeron and 256MB of ram and sucked ass... thats just my opinion. I have also been on some others. If his has a P4 it prob good, but there just not as good. And if you have a celeron at 2 Ghz your not gona be able to play awesome games very well newayz...or at least from my exsperiance.

dell is pretty decent. the only downside they have (like all other manufacturers) is that you never know what they are putting into your computer for terms of quality parts.
since you got a 9800pro i'm assuming you're a gamer but most gamers i know wouldn't be caught dead with a dell or any other manufac pc. simply because you can do so much better on your own.
going to newegg and just typing in the list of stuff you got:
2.8 w/ hyper threading = 210.00
1 gig geil pc3200 ram =160.00 (and who knows what type of ram you'll get)
seagate 120 gig hd =111.00
9800pro w/ good clock speed =270.00
48x cdrw =30.00
16x dvd = 28.00
=809.00 time 2 for two pc's = 1618.00
add two hundred dollars for two great motherboards w/ 5.1 sound or better. and you're at rouglhly 1800.00 and all you need is one copy of xp and if you're cases aren't good enough to upgrade them w/ psu's.. a savings of anywhere from 700.00 over what dell did.
not trying to show you up or anything... i just think ordering from a company is pointless. it costs more to do less and we're all trying to get the best systems we can...
rk
im guessing the dell include a moitor as well cuz most of them include monitor. so thats another 300-400.
oh and gaming rig from ibuypower are pretty decent. and they cost less then the dell system.
Posted by: reignking
ah yeah... forgot dell includes monitors. but they're are cheap anyways. a 17" crt costs 100.00 or one comparable to a top of the line one can be had for 150.00.
so take that into account also.
edit: ah... didn't see you bought. thought you were in the process of deciding. n/m then )
Posted by: adamp2p
If I were you I would quickly cancel both of those orders.;
Just my advice. And go to the Dell refurbished website and look around there. You could save yourself enough money to where even the deal conscious members of this board will stay off your back.
Those Dells you ordered dont even have the 800 MHz front side bus! Your RAM modules I think operate at 333 MHz. Cancel them. Trust me. After you do, report back and I will help to guide you to the better deal.
;)
Edit: to the computer built yourselvers: I am only advising this cat to go Dell because he is a computer newbie trying to save a buck and with that in mind, I advise him... ;)

I just checked Dell.com, and their entire 2400 line only looks to come with 2.2Ghz 400Mhz FSB Pentium 4 processors, you couldnt get half the specs you just listed.

your kidding right?
Thats like saying which is faster a car or a bicycle
Posted by: bigdawgfoxx
Dell Refurb is good and Im sure Adam can get you a damn good deal....they also come with all the same warranties so its basicly new. If you can I would do what adam says...he got an awesome rig for like 1500 i believe?? something like that i cant remember adam. John he has a 4600 not a 2400.

He edited that post, dude; the Dell's with 533 fsb don't use 400 MHz dual channel DDr.
Posted by: bigdawgfoxx
Yeah but his has twice the Memory and a better HD. I dont know, I really like what he bought and he seems to be very happy with it also, so I think he should just stick with what he has.
Posted by: adamp2p
It is a matter of no consequence to me. I hope he is happy with his purchase. I just feel sorry for his need to edit the details of his post for our sake--
