CD Sales Increase?
November 17, 2003
Ciarán Tannam
Reuters are claiming today that CD sales are on the rise in the USA for the first time in over 3 years. This is in line with recent comments by the RIAA that CD sales have been on the increase in recent weeks.
The Reuters report cites Billboard Magazine as saying that sales this quarter may be greater than sales for the last quarter of 2002. 4th quarter CD sales in 2002 were regarded as a huge disappointment by the US music industry. Claiming that the music industry might beet the sales levels of last years holiday season (after up to 15% decline so far this year) can hardly be classified as a recovery.
The interesting thing is that the RIAA who help control distribution of music and issue much statistics related to music sales are talking up an increase for the first time in years. This comes at the exact same time as they are claiming success in their consumer lawsuit strategy.
anyway, filesharing remains important ;)

experts have been sayin all along that music sales will go up fileshareing or not now why is the riaa complaining

RIAA also increased their supply-chain.
You can't sell what you don't offer!
During the 'downturn' years, they had vastly reduced supply then blamed 'piracy' on the results!

 well are they gonna blame the increaseing profits on fileshareing lol lets see how they explain this one

you US ppl think you have it so bad

hey, that is fuckin' expensive - if you want to
buy a cd and be happy: BUY IT DIRECTLY FROM THE ARTIST, SO
RIAA DOES NOT GET MONEY FROM YOU ;)

yep, but if you can't find it - I cannot expect that of you -
it also have not to be 10 cds at lease 1cd or rent it from a friend
then rip it...
cause: I unfortunately have not the best financial situation at the moment,
if I would have millions to spend I would build up a huge library with
kazaa ... no, many libraries on different places in the world...
;)

What I would not buy, also if I had enough money, every dumbshit, only
that what I really want to listen to...
many music is not the best - doesn't means it is not not art - but it depends
also on your favorite music which one yuo would decide to buy and which not...
But I think there are a lot of ppl who only make one cd and are not
passionate singers or musicians...
do you agree?

Posted by: internet.news
talent maybe true it depends on what ppl want to hear...
crazy? am I? Well I would say I am extraordinary, but I think I am not, cause
I have seen more extraordinary things ;)

I was just thinking about all the ppl who for e.g. make cds ,write books
and are not long time musicians or writers - ok, you can write a shortstory,
as I wrote one one time - but there are many ppl who ...
yeah, it is could in some ways something with the talent...
Posted by: Rappy
well people get into the business because they like music but they loose the love when the money gets involved so now u see them doing crazy things just to make a few extra bucks
