Roxio Easy Cd/dvd 6 Help

Is it possible with Roxio easy cd/dvd creator 6 to convert and burn Avi movies (appx 600 to 700mb) and burn them onto a DVD-R as a VCD. I tried to get 5 movies onto one disc (total size 4.6gb) and the program tells me that the disc in the drive isnt a CD (of course its a DVD-R). i hope ive been clear in what im trying to do. 1) Make a DVD with .avi movies converted to VCD and put as many on a DVD-R as i can fit. is this possible? thanks in advance. I have a TDK indiDVD+-R+-RW. if the answer to this has already been posted somewhere, please point me to it, and accept my appologies for the re-post. :)
