Sharman just forced the removal of any references to Kazaa Lite on the main website.
K-Lite itself is pretty much alive. You can still use it with no problems. ;)

What about ES5 (http://www.google.com)*. It is a great program which provides direct FTP downloads and anonymous proxies :D.
I would go for using IRC. Newsgroups are crap for binaries because: Lots of servers don't cache binares
You can sometimes get incomplete files
You need to pay to access a good newsgroup server
*Don't use ES5. it contains malware. I was being sarcastic.
