is World News & Events a new section?

Posted by: Busyman

Somewhat. It was a subsection in the Lounge. Now it's on it's own.

For better or for worse, it would seem.

Some of the chaps felt that as a sub-section of the Lounge it was trivialised.

I tend to disagree and liked it where it was, however the point is really not that important.

Don't let the name fool you btw, it's really just for anything that people wish to have a serious (sometimes heated) discussion about.

So if there is anything that you would like to discuss and would wish it to be dealt with in a more serious manner. Perhaps get views from different parts of the world, cultures and socio-economic groups, please wade in.

What's weird is that all it took is for the person, junyardking, to ask and 2 posts later it was then made into a section. I applaud 7th Element for trying different things though and doing it quickly.

Busyman,

This thread may have also played into this decision.ILW's post (http://klboard.ath.cx/index.php?showtopic=86907)

I never peeped that. Now it makes more sense.

Ever since world news was moved, some should i say intellectual snobs have been complaining about it seemingly not wanting the extra attention it will recieve for the fear of more "simplistic posts", i dont see this as a problem as it's up to the person responding if they wish to reconise the post and any spam, personal attacks ect usally get moderated. :D

It disrupts and dilutes a coherent exchange. Ever try posting a point amidst a Jonno and NikkiD conversation? Let a bunch of 12 year olds start bickering in your thread and see how well you can carry on a discussion.

I voted for the change, I now regret it.

If I am an intellectual snob to you, so be it.

I don't recall there being a poll about it, but I do remember thinking that it wasn't a bad idea.

Apparently it was. ;)

I didn't mean to be so final. I think it was worth a try and we should give it more time to see how it plays out.

After all, it's just a forum, nobody is going to get too badly injured. ;) :D <_< B)
