Wut do cd rippers do?
it rips audio from your cd onto your hardrive,so you can play them on your comp.
Or even better, you can share them on p2p-networks.
A ripping-tool can also convert your audio-files into mp3's.This way the size of the files is much smaller then an ordinairy wav-file.
This what a cd-ripper is and does ;)

How can you say that. wheres the proof?

When I rip with e.g. AudioGrabber and run the ripped files trough 3 different mp3 checkers, and all 3 of them say its a perfect rip [and MP3Utility is picky!] then what does make your EAC rip better then my AG rip? They both use LAME

I know EAC is a very good ripper, but I had some problems with it so I switched to another ripper, and my rips are perfect as well [@192 or 224 VBR]

none of the others have secure mode.
period.

Youre right, that makes EAC the uber ripper!

Btw, have you ever really tried other rippers? Or are just repeating what other people tell you?
Last few days Ive been playing with "imTOO CD ripper", seems like a good one too, it has many settings to choose from, I'm not sure wheter Im gonna use it or not, but at least Im trying all kinds of rippers so I can see for myself if I like them or not.

*playing is trying different settings and run the ripped files trough 3 MP3 checkers etc.

yes...I've used several others...

secure mode just ensures a flawless rip, especially with a less-than-flawless disc.
but really, as long as it's LAME encoded with 3.90something VBR it's decent to me.
