What's the best movie of 2003?
BIG winner: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Posted by: Slug03
It's all about captain jack sparrow
would be cool if there was a grand theft auto movie
it would be...
"Grand Theft Auto"
starring Robert de nero as Tommy, michelle rodriegez as mercedes,
Al pacino as Sonny forelli, Tyrese ( the black guy from 2 fast 2 furius) as
Lance Vance. any actor's you think should be a grand theft auto movie?

without question, LoTR: Return of the King
Posted by: [B][O][T]
Terminator 3: Rise of The Machines
Got My vote :)

No doubt in my mind: LotR, return of the king

Kill Bill, but i selected other by mistake :(
Posted by: mooseman2070
how can T3 be up there, IMO thats the worst movie of the year after all the hype it got, no real action or anything, once again, IMO. i vote for pirates
Posted by: Aaron_T
i voted for X-MEN 2 but Pirates of the carribean came an extremely close second :)
Posted by: bigdawgfoxx
I think LOTR is kinda overrated...
Posted by: silent VI
i vote other for porn no vid in spacific
Posted by: Gre1
I see I was the only one for Bad Boys 2 but this movie was good but so were the rest of them I see Rotk has most votes but I have never seen any lotr and don't want to either.
Posted by: abu_has_the_power
rotk all the way dude!!
Posted by: 3rd gen noob
kill bill or the last saumrai :)
Posted by: DKRiceEater
I think the best Movie for 2003 is LOTR: Return Of The King. Hands down :)
Posted by: Adster
well has to be Return Of The King
Kill Bill a Close second
I also liked T3 and Finding Nemo
Pirates OK nothing I'd see again
and no comment about the matrix
Posted by: dmorgan89
potc all the way. great movie. best of the year. i wonder if rotk will beat it in sales..... probably.
Posted by: Marius24
i would say pirates of the Carribean was the best, its a great film. LOTR was also very good but stuff like T3 and matrix was pritty dissapointing <_<
Posted by: neevakee
pirates was an excelent film and it woulk have been my favorit if it was not for rotk
Posted by: h4ck3r.:LOTR.mov
Yea LOTR RoTk!!!!!!! :D
Posted by: abu_has_the_power
pirates was great! but i lacked visual and the scenery wasn't that good either. the battle at mina terith (is that how u spell it?) was amazingly well done. looked mind-boggling on the big screens
Posted by: D4rK0Soul
LOTR was a good story but damn long. Had like 4 endings. anyways it got mine :tank: :bag:
Posted by: bootylicious
I agree with almost everyone; I didn't have to think twice about this topic at all. Without a doubt it's LOTR - ROTK; the fact that it was too long didn't bother me one bit. Matrix Reloaded, Finding Nemo & Pirates of the Caribbean were pretty good too. B)
Posted by: Infested Cats
As much as I love the Matrix Movies, and everything they stand for, I had to give it to ROTK. It was absolutley stunning.
Posted by: jetje
Without a doubt Pirates Of the Caribean!
LOTR Return of the King is imo not a movie but 1 part of a trilogie....
But is a very close second B)
On a whole different type of movies i thought Rabbit proof fence was the best filmhouse movie... If your a bit into more serious movies this is a one to watch.
Posted by: abu_has_the_power
finding nemo is my 2nd, then potc. finding nemo was so awesome!
Posted by: mogadishu
The Quiet American.
Did anyone else see it, it was absolutely brilliant.
Posted by: Keikan
Hmm don't really know I saw lots of movies this year but I don't got a favourite
Posted by: TK~Carnage
S.W.A.T is my favourite for '03
Posted by: Tetsujn
i see these forums are fileld with LOTR nerds. lol. anyways i voted for the absolute greatest: Matrix Revolutions.
Posted by: Adster
I can't believe Mystic River isn't on that list well I guess theres not enough action in the movie for the young ones ;)
it will probably win best movie and best actor Sean Penn yet it will be UN noticed here
Posted by: buggymattus
Wel I voted for LOTR: Return of the King. But to be honest there were a few close ones behind it like Finding Nemo and The Last Samurai !! Matrix Revolutions was cool enough but it wasn't the best by far..oh well...
Posted by: spazola
Return of the King was excellent
Posted by: G-Tzmax
The Lord of The Rings The Return of the king. The best
Posted by: Samurai

Agreed. I don't know WHY anyone is hyping these films so much. Everyone I speak to say it's ok but nothing special.
My vote goes to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Posted by: Cyril
Of the one's listed definitely ROTK - a worthy finish to a great trilogy by the next recipient of best director at the oscars.
But my pick was Final Destination2 as that had some scenes that blew me away, and were totally unexpected.
For those that doubt the worthiness of ROTK, quoting Yahoo movies it has grossed just over $290 mill so far after 3 weeks (with POTC on $315 after 26 weeks) and The Two Towers grossed $341 mill.
Posted by: vivitron 15
:o i wouldnt dream of voting for anything except for Nemo! it was truly amazing - everyone who has seen it was amazed by it, young & old alike.
Posted by: gemby!
i dont think this movie was out this year but its when i saw it
donnie darko :)

:01: the lord of the rings return of the king is absolutely the best of 2003,2002,2001,etc.etc.etc.
it is an unbelievably awesome movie.(better than 1 and 2 by the way)

mystic river isnt mentioned because tim robbins and sean penn are both lowlife communists. listen to some of the comments they have made about america and our president.
i did watch the movie though, even though i hate both of them and it was pretty good.

Hmmm, this is a tough decision. This year was an exceptionally good one for movies. Sure some films that were expected to be awesome, turned out to be quite dissapointing, while others just blew our socks off. Let me see I must say that both ROTK and Kill Bill were great rollarcoaster rides of films. Also great were Mystic River, Master and Commander, and the Last Samurai, but If I had to choose a 'best' film of 2003 then...Im going to go out on a limb here and say Lost in Translation. Maybe Im just a romantic sap...but it honestly was one the most endearing films Ive seen in quite some time.
Posted by: GibboNet
I voted other, I was going to say Love Actually was my fave, but I think it was released this year here... I didn't think it was the greatest movie, but it was much better than I thought, and I almost like hugh grant. :o
T3 was crap, it was just another lame action movie. ROTK was great, i went to see all three again at a amovie marathon... after 10 hours, I was still loving it. Nemo was funny, and my girlfriend's vote goes to it without a doubt.
Pirates of the Carribean was great as well, and would be close to my other favourites. SWAT was good, but it was just a no brainer action movie like T3 when it comes down to it.
I'm a few hours till finished on Kill Bill, so I'll see what it's like when it finishes downloading.

i saw it and liked it. it used brendan frasier's happy-go-lucky, boy-next-door image very well as a disguise for his character's conniving nature. and for a story that was written in the 1950s, it's still surprisingly relevant to the politics of today. but it's not a movie that i'd need to watch more than once, 'cause a convincing political/moral lesson doesn't necessarily make for enduring entertainment.
my favorite was Pirates Of The Caribbean, with Lost In Translation and Kill Bill Vol 1 running a close tie for 2nd place.
Merci Pour Le Chocolat was a favorite of mine, as well. actually a 2002 film, but i don't think many people had any chance to see it in the U.S. until the dvd came out in 2003.

My favorite movie isn't listed and it's quite a pity for such great comedy!!
Anger Management is my personal favorite!
Great fun the whole movie along, one of very few comedies (along with freaky friday) to be able to make you REALLY laugh on the floor the whole playtime.
It is also a movie who brought some fresh air in the times of refilming movies and producing suites.
Just my opinion

kill bill pwns
Posted by: top_gun
ROTK is teh fav. LOTR movies (not including the EE versions, they are #1 overall :P), not to mention the fav. out of teh books as well (not including the Silmarilion)
POTC and Finding Nemo tie for 2nd for me
Posted by: seiya_33
voted for M revolutions , but my fav movie of the year was matrix reloaded and and in second place , captain jack sparrow , depp was really funny.
Posted by: necromancerxp
Lord of The Rings: Return of The King
Posted by: CoolMac
Matrix Revolutions, LOTR the return of the king had nice action, but the story left me dissapointed, perhaps cuz there isn't a book of the matrix?
but anyway there's a lot of time since i wathced both of'em and i couldn't find good quality versions of those
Posted by: Wizard_Mon1
i voted rotk but pirates of teh caribean was a very funny film in which johny depp was a star. Orlando bloom proves his ability to play any role under teh sun. and kiera knightly whom i saw on a tube in london with her mum, awww, proved that she can act but it will be a slightly irritating performance.
also bad boys 2 was an unexpectedly good film, i didnt see it in teh cinema but i wish i had. i thought it would be very bad but it turns out they were good bad boys.

i don't know when this movie came otu but i watched it in 2003 so i am giving it my vote. It is a Brazilian movie, they speak Portugese or something with english subs and i say this movie is just as good as Godfather or Scarface, but hey since it's an all black cast............. CITY OF GOD or CIDADE DE JESUS or something like that i got the screener off Klite and i am gladly sharing. This is the best gangsta movie i've seen in a long ass time!
CITY OF GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Posted by: ratman316
Despite the critcal lashing it got both the matrix films i thought were awesome.
ROTK was good but way too long esp the ending it made me cringe the cheesiness of it. (btw what was that all about?)
X2 T3 and bruce almighty deserve honerable mentions.
Posted by: Wizard_Mon1
at the end frodo and gandalf and bilbo and the holders of the three elven rings where going back to valinor a place that existed before middle earth.
Posted by: xaxidk
LOTR: Return of the King
no doubt about it. best battle scenes i've ever seen.
Posted by: QualityPapers
Definately Nemo, closely followed by Pirates

Posted by: The Horror fanatic
although my favourite of 2003 was frddy vs jason, i got to admit that return of the king sure blows the other 2 parts to bits and gets my vote for the oscar.
Posted by: 123
i've never seen return of the king, and i wanna read the book b4 seeing the movie. y does finding nemo have so little votes? i thought it was a great movie. for those who haven't watched it, it's not those crappy animated movie for 3 yr olds, it's in reality really good

Wasnt that the comedy about 2 of the best horror stars? That movie made me laugh so hard at how fake it was. They coulda atleat made things alittle more real.
Posted by: Formula1
Bad Boys II , Then Kill Bill.
Posted by: Unikum
definitely "The return of the king", but "Finding Nemo" is really cool :D
Posted by: BigBoo
ive only seen a few of thse so i cant vote yet, but i can say not the matrix
Posted by: Neo 721
there isnt that much too choose from
Posted by: Skillian
Kill Bill got my vote, I'd been waiting so long for new Tarantino. ROTK a close second.
City of God was amazing, prob third on my list and Finding Nemo was really good too. I also really liked Lost In Translation, Mystic River and Phone Booth.
SWAT was a bit disappointing, was hoping for better considering the cast, and Master & Commander was boring.
Matrix Revolutions was rubbish, as was Terminator 3, but X-Men 2 was great, much better than I'd expected.

My vote went to Kill Bill Vol. 1. :)
Posted by: Krisman
I must say although LotR:RotK is the best movie on that list the best movie from 2003 was Matrix Reloaded.
Posted by: Don_Pedrote
Haven't seen lotr rotk yet. I'm waiting till the normal & extended dvd comes out and will watch all 3 extended versions in 1 weekend. :D :D :D
So my vote went to matrix revolutions
Posted by: h121589
Bad Boys 2
Posted by: rewski54
Pirates of the Carribean. That's my 2 cents.
Posted by: tesco
lord of the rings are teh worst movies ive ever sat through, i saw teh first one in theatres, hated it, then my art teacher made us watch it and choose a cahracter to critique, i hated that movie SO MUCH!
finding nemo on the other hand, that movie was amazing!
Posted by: ahctlucabbuS
Yea Lord of the rings return of the king wasnt all that. I enjoyed the first two, but somehow all the hype got to me I think. Either that or I was simply not in the mood for lotr that night, havent seen it again which I maybe should to be able to make a more informed judgement...
Anyway rambling aside, on top of my head it would have to be Lost in translation or matchstick men (Im sure there are others that are probably even better, but if there is I cant remember them atm).
So definetely not lotr then ;) :P
