Will Avg Anti-virus Protect Me?

I got a virus from klpp last week (I DIDN'T have AVG at the time) and had to format c:. that sucked. Now that I have AVG Anti-Virus, am I protected from downloaded viruses (per download) from klpp? or just when I run the avg program manually? any suggestions?

you should get a firewall like zone alarm or zygate

keep your av upto date and scan anything you download off the net with it, not just stuff from klite and follow muchspl2's advice
