Ok...I just bought the new viewsonic...the top of the screen looks like SHIT it curves UP then back down...its like a fucking hill at the top and the bottom...its not brighter really...shits kinda harder to see...my old monitor is fucking 3 years old...

WHATS UP?? im fucking pissed

Colors are a little better I GUESS...but the fucking thing at the top is like a mountain and makes the monitor look like a piece of SHIT!

http://www.sighost.us/members/bigdawgfoxx/mointor.jpg

You cant see it too good...but it arches up ALOT and when im typing...the words look kinda like rainbowish and then like 5 seconds when im done typing they get kinda black again...WTFFFFF this monitor is like a piece of shit

Posted by: Livy

maybe just settings are wrong, play about with the settings on front of monitor, and also install the colour profile for your monitor it may help with the colour

Posted by: bigdawgfoxx

Ive messed with all the settings...and just noticed that they have automaticly reset themself...POS!

Posted by: Livy

mines looked at little skew wif when i got my new monitor, but fidling got it right, and it was only a cheapo 17" flat crt. £70

edit: also make sure there is nothing magnetic thay may affect it, as it may be a little more sensitive than ur old one.

Posted by: bigdawgfoxx

nothing magnetic is newhere near it..and it cost 130 and is a viewsonic ultra bright flat screen..

it goes up at the top...and go up in the bottom at the same place..its like the screen is fucking warped and i dont want to have to pay to send this pos back

Posted by: Livy

i cant remeber what setting it is, but it is definetly a setting problem, it took me about half an hour to get mine right. just fiddle with them all.

the ones on the monitor that is,

edit: well definetly seems like a setting prob, since its same top and bottom

Dawg, you might want to try the Nokia Monitor Test (http://www.skycn.com/soft/1162.html).
Don't worry, the program is in English even though the DL site isn't.

Posted by: Virtualbody1234

@bigdawgfoxx, maybe you could tone down the fucking language? What do ya think?

Posted by: Dray_04

youd be pretty pissed as well if ure monitor was a fkn rainbow themed POS.

Posted by: bigdawgfoxx

sure..sorry..just so pissed off...but im cooled down now...also..i bought this 10 dollar keyboard and i can type SO fast on it...its so easy to type! i love it lol

Ill try the monitor test...and there is a setting called Moire reduction..and it shows curvy lines through the screen...but it doesnt seem to help at ALL.

Umm, is it showing up as functional totally? Is it connected through the IDE bus? If its connected through S-ATA or ATA, do you have ATA enabled in your BIOS?

Posted by: bigdawgfoxx

Both of my HDDs are on the same controler...the 80GB on master and my new one on slave...in device manager it says its working properly and speedfan detects it and everything...I dont know why My Computer doesnt show it..

what do I click on to make it download?

Posted by: Virtualbody1234

Does the drive have any partitions defined?

Posted by: bigdawgfoxx

My original 80GB Master HDD has a C: and a D: drive...2 partitions..

Posted by: Virtualbody1234

To set up the drive goto:

Start>Control Panel>Switch to Classic View>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management.

Posted by: bigdawgfoxx

Ok...It set it up but it says 149GB of unallocated space on the computer managment thing...its still not showing up in my computer tho..

Do I need to creat new partition on it? Like an E: partition?...

my final plan...well the only reason im installing this one is to take the data off of my 80GB HDD and put it on the new one...then reformatt the 160 partition where I dont have my data and stuff...so will I need to creat the drive as F: or what?

Posted by: Virtualbody1234

Run the partitioning wizard from in disk management and then the drive will appear in 'My Computer'

Posted by: bigdawgfoxx

Should I format it or not when it ask? or just creat the new partition?

I'm formating it..

Well if its not formatted already, then your going to have to before you create a new partition, im thinking its probably not formatted though seeing as how its not showing up in my computer.

Posted by: Virtualbody1234

Click the 'help' in the upper right of the Disk Management to understand.

That's wrong. You cannot format until you have a partition defined.

Posted by: bigdawgfoxx

I'm formatting it right now..its on 5%. Once I make it my primary HDD can I change the letter back to C: and D:?

Posted by: tesco

you should just install windows onto the new drive then setup your current 80gb drive as slave AFTER windows has been reinstalled, then you can take off the stuff you need then reformat it once it is in your bros computer.

oh and about the monitor, sucks that its like that but mine used to be like that and after fiddling with the settings for a while i got it perfect so keep trying, and about teh rainbow stuff, go to right click dekstop, properties, appearance, effects and uncheck smooth font edges using: cleartpye\standard and that should fix the problem.

Posted by: bigdawgfoxx

well im just going to partition the new HDD now and then install windows..the monitor still aint working and ive tried every setting...none of them work..i will call tech support sometime or something...

Posted by: muchspl2

you just don't have the right tool ;)

With regards to the monitor - are you using the correct driver, and are you using an appropriate refresh rate?

My Viewsonic came with a driver CD, which sorted out a couple of niggles with the monitor.

You should definetly try that bigdawg, or look around at the viewsonic site.

Yeah, I get the idea now, you can have a drive partitioned, but not formatted. But you cant have a drive formatted, but not partitioned, right?

Windows partitioning manager in the installations has spoiled me.
