Maximum Compression Of A File

I recently downloaded a file from the net... named dvd region x. It has two files - one bin file and one cue file... The size of the bin file is around 700 MB... after compressing it into a .rar archive, its size is strongly compressed into just 2 MB....

I have a very little knowledge about .bin files..
I have a question... Can a movie file be converted into a .bin image and if its compressed in say.. a .rar archive, will its size be reduced? Forget a movie.... will this work for any other files?

    Goddamn if file compression could compress files that far and not take a long time to pack and unpack then that would be one of the biggest advancements in file sharing. B)

it is possible but video does not compress in a lossless fashion very well. so you will see a small drop in file size but not really noticeable.
dvd region x is only about 2 mb in size so im guessing the rest of that bin you had was all filler which will compress very well since it all the same.
try looking into uharc and 7zip they are better then winrar at compressing.

Yeah I tried using Uharc. Could not get it to work. :(
