Whatever happened to that 'Doom' movie, which was supposed to be produced?
Posted by: gildan2020
WARCRAFT!!!! (hey, i play the game bcos the story is so damn good..for a game of coz :P )
or perhaps...STARCRAFT!!! (imagine Halle Berry as Kerrigan)
and the script must come from the creator, then the movie will be a definite sellout

Guess we all forgot what happened to the Mario Bros. movie , Tomb Raider ,Wing Commander...
Games and movies are two separate beasts. Trying to turn an interactive , action-driven piece of software into a passive , plot-driven piece of film just isn't going to work unless you've got some serious talent in writing , directing , cast , ...
Looking forward to the Max Payne movie , but then again , the game was supposed to be movie-like , so time will tell.

the same guy who did "house of the dead" (which sucked) has the movie rights to a lot of games. i believe he has:
1. metroid
2. blood rayne
3. farcry
4. Alone in the Dark
5. Dungeon Siege
6. Fear Effect
7. Hunter: The Reckoning
i'm sure that i read metroid somewhere, but couldn't find the link for that one, but did find this (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/30611/) one.

NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!NONE
I dont mind it when they make the sequel to a game as a movie i.e. FF7:AC. Or if they make a movie based on the characters from a game i.e. Tomb Raider movies. But if they make a movie based on the games storyline, just to re-tell it for no apparent reason it sux.
If they eva did that i would refuse to see it cause it ruins gameplay! The whole point of a game is that you play through it so that you feel a part of the storyline not to watch it happen in fromt of you on a big secreen.
I would also like to point out that every game that has been made based on a movie (or TV show) also suck. Great examples of these are: Buffy the game (i love the TV show, have watched every episode but this is just wrong), Blade was made into a game which aparently sucked, thats all i can think of now but i know there is more and they get worse as they go on! The only exceptions to this is the Matrix game which i thought was amazing cause it gave you loads of new info from the movies which you missed out on in the cinema.
You should have worded your topic name better cause its sugesting that you are making a movie recreating a games plot!
...although i like the guy who thought of the tetrus movie
How bout a Pac Man one!?!? :)

I think whoever made the resident evil movies should be shot. They RUINED that movie. IF the would have made it actually follow the story line that could have been like the best movie ever. Another one would be alone in the dark the new nightmare, and Silent Hill 1 and Max Payne and have bruce willis play the part of max.

Milla Jovovich made up for the rest of the film though. If you ask me, they can even make more sequels as long as Mila is in them with her red dress :D

Please god NO!
There does not need to be a max payne movie....
I loved the gameplay but the dialogue was INSIPID! Bad enough in fact, to make me stop playing almost immediately.
The concept is just rehashed B rate pulp detective stories.
Which I suppose is a good thing if you like that stuff, but it bores the hell out of me.
http://www.thrillingdetective.com/images/pulpartweekly.jpg
6. Fear Effect
Dead on there Mr. Nails... I could not put this game down for one second! The story was so compelling I just had to find out more and their whole delving into the Chinese Hell aspect was something I had never really seen before. (probably because I don't know a lot about Chinese cinema.)
I also think the .hack series has a really awesome concept for it although there is too much to put into just one movie. Another compelling storyline though.
Eden Project would probably make a cool movie
And of course DEUS EX would make an amazing movie
I bet even PSO would make a good flick
and finally BATTLEZONE because I loved the idea that the American and Russian military forces were advanced far beyond the public's knowledge and were battling it out on the moon for alien technology whilst NASA was conducting the 1960's moon landings as a cover.

Uwe Boll's BloodRayne Starts Shooting in August
Source: Hollywood North Report
Thursday, March 4, 2004
Hollywood North Report tells us they've got the latest on director Uwe Boll's adaptation of Majesco's BloodRayne.
We first reported on this film back in October but when we spoke to Uwe Boll last month he mentioned that it may shoot totally in Eastern Europe. Well it seems that is no longer the case and expect to see more Vampires on the streets of Vancouver starting in August 2004.
Also announced is that Guinevere Turner (American Psycho) is writing the screenplay. For the full scoop check out our newly launched Bloodrayne Preview Page which also includes the latest press release.
Turner said "I'm thrilled at the opportunity to bring this character to the big screen - she's hot, she's p*ssed off, she has special powers - what's not to love?"
BloodRayne features the sexy, supernatural, huntress BloodRayne, an unholy breed of human and vampire. An explosive force with gymnastic dexterity and an intense lust for blood and action, BloodRayne was raised and trained by a secret agency to hunt down and eliminate supernatural threats around the globe.

XIII can be made into a movie. U know......loads of action and thrilling moments!!! A good director can make XIII something like the good old Indiana Jones style movies.
Unreal Tournament is also an interesting choice though the story is a weak point. But varied characters and some exciting battle scenes can be filmed as well!!!

Or how about Silent Hill? I think it has a fantastic premise to be made into a movie. The eerie atmosphere and the Nazgul-like creatures.......I think it will make for great cinema.
But I'm wondering who should be directing it......Peter Jackson perhaps (because he already has prior experience in making horror movies before LOTR and also he'll handle those creatures brilliantly like he did with the Nazgul, trolls, orcs, uruk-Hai, Balrog etc etc. in LOTR).
But he's busy making KING KONG, isn't he?

Description
Konami of America, announced that its hit psychological horror videogame series, Silent Hill, will be released worldwide as a major motion picture. Production company Davis Films will produce the feature film adaptation of Konami’s popular franchise. Produced by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, the Silent Hill games thrust players into a nightmarish world where they must unravel twisted storylines and battle grotesque creatures and terrifying monsters.
Bringing the series to the big screen is prolific producer Samuel Hadida whose credits include blockbuster films, True Romance, directed by Tony Scott and written by Quentin Tarantino, Spider, directed by David Cronenberg, and Brotherhood of the Wolf, directed by Christophe Gans. Gans, who also directed the major motion picture, Crying Freeman, has been appointed as the director of the Silent Hill feature film.
Silent Hill is a groundbreaking game with an atmosphere that has mesmerized millions of gamers all over the world - it is scary and clever, said Christophe Gans. I am very proud to be associated with this game.
Working closely with the production team, Konami Corporation will help recreate the universal appeal of the game by overseeing the script development, participating in the design of all the monsters, creatures and characters as well as aiding in the film’s soundtrack composition.
The success of the Silent Hill series is based on a perfect blend of suspense, plot twists and captivating characters, said Geoff Mulligan, Chief Operating Officer of Konami of America, Inc. We are confident that Samuel Hadida and his talented team will capture and create an unforgettable movie-going experience.
Silent Hill is the premiere franchise in the horror videogame genre with over four million copies sold in Japan, the U.S. and Europe. Silent Hill 3 for PlayStation 2 was recently released in August 2003 and is considered to be the best game in the series. With a terrifying narrative, spectacular graphics and a bloodcurdling soundtrack, Silent Hill 3 has already garnered numerous industry accolades and awards.
To further strengthen the Konami brand worldwide, the company is currently pursuing film production deals for its other blockbuster videogame franchises.

Great!!! I have a lot of hopes from that one. Hopefully they shouldn't screw up the Silent Hill series like they did with Tomb Raider or Resident Evil.

They should make Diablo. It would look like LOTR style.

Splinter Cell (Better plot the 95% of the Bond movies I've seen.)
Tenchu: Wraith of Heaven (I thought that the story was excellent and the game looks like your watching a movie... also all the authentic ninja weapons and techniques are cool as f*ck.)

If they made a Resident Evil movie of the way I played the game then it would have been a 36 hour epic of some stupid bird running into walls, missing zombies that were stood right in front of her and then dying...lots.

Certain elements of XIII remind me of the series 24... Like the old Brian De Palma multiscreen stage start.
