Apple Question

we've finally gotten an apple here at school to do some DTP work on for various projects.........

but euhhhmmm.......... we dont know how to open the CD-rom drive.......

it isnt showing up on the desktop like the HDD is. is it maybe not installed?



ps our system admin doesnt know anything about apples

Buddy of mine has an iBook , he has to hold F12. Never hurts to try.

i dont think the cd-rom shows up until there is a cd in the drive,
i dont know myself, the apples i used were imacs, and u just pushed the cd in the slot.

on new mac's the eject button is on the keyboard

well i think it doesnt recognize the CD-rom..............

and there isnt an eject button on the mac itself

btw, its an "older" mac...... with OS X 9.2

there is sometimes a little hole that you push in with a needle if a disk gets stuck in, try that?

edit: did u try f12?

edit2: had a wee look, and it seems f12 is eject.

Cant help you much with apples, they are like oranges to me, One of these days I am going to have to expand my learning from all the PC's and MCSE stuff to some apple stuff. But a fellow has an apple here in my work and usually he needs to put a cd in first before the drive shows up.

yeah, thats it........... the eject button on the CDdrive is just REALLY hidden :(
