OK, I'm really confused here.
Today I was told there are 8 bits in a byte, and I always thought there where 8 bytes in a bit
I know this is a really trivial and stupid issue, but could somebody please clear this up for me
Thanks

1 byte = 8 bit
A sequence of 8 bits is so important that it has a name of its own: a byte.
See here. (http://www.bartleby.com/64/C004/010.html) First link I could pull up on the subject.
Google'd in ooh, say, 5 seconds ;)
