^^ is happening to random files / programs at random times.
Please help :frusty:

You've got a program with a memory leak, but not necessarily the one reporting the problem.
Software.

Random files and programs?
Do you know if this started happening after you had made any changes to your 'puter.
Such as installing:
A new program.
A new Driver.
New Hardware.
Or Maybe a Service pack?
Also, have you made any changes to how your computer handles virtual memory or somesuch?

Also, is that Win2k? What SP?
If not what os is it?
And have you ever overclocked your ram?

its XP Pro, SP1.
i have never overclocked my ram.
No idea if it happened after installing anything im afraid :frusty:
I did use Cachman XP for a while... might that have changed the virtual memory ?
I also noticed in the event log that windows trys to start the cachmanxp process sometimes but fails, even though its uninstalled.
Lastly, i looked at my virual memory settings and this is what it says

and my second drive (F) has no paging file.

Ok, if it has something to do with that then...Not saying it does for sure...but if it does, deleting all references to cacheman in the registry might work, but you have to know what you are doing if you are going to work with the registry.
Also, changing the memory settings might help, even try shutting of the pagefiles completely if you have enough ram to pull that off. Might wipe whatever mess cacheman has made, if it has.

Try downloading Memtest86 and run it for a couple hours (like when u go out somewhere or something) then check on it and see if it comes up with any memory errors.
If not just reinstall windows, easiest way to fix a probolem like this. :lol:

i took a pic of the processes and the performance monitor but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for tbh

i know you probably aren't gonna wanna try it, but i tihnk you should. you can do it when u go to sleep or something.
