I have been looking at some S-ATA hard drives from Samsung, Maxtor and Western Digital.
I know i can connected them to my mobo.
Do they have a faster data transfer that IDE. I am looking at some 80GB / 120GB drives just some for backups and msuic and video storage incase anything happeneds to my current drive.

A regular SATA will be slightly better than a standard PATA drive, but you don't see a major improvement till you step up to a WD Raptor with the 10k spindle speed.
Those things are fast.
The biggest advantage of a regular SATA drive (IMO) is the nice thin cables.

Sounds like you have bugs in your system.

 That sucks.
But whatever u do don't try to repair it yourslef. It will require u taking apart the monitor, exposing the thingies inside (not sure what they are but people call them caps  ) which carry very high voltages and amps and accidently touching them could cause serious damage to your body. ;)
save yourself the trouble and get it serviced professionally.

caps = capacitors
Don't EVER open up a monitor, unless you're a fully qualified and competent technician.
There's enough voltage stored in there to kill you dead 5 times over.

really it only has a 12v supply to it. Its a 17" LCD
I know about caps they store up electricity. Well like i said i am taking back to store i got it from.
I cannot belive it these harvest bugs get into everything picture frames they take ove the most. Just my luck that it gets inside PC screen.

oh it's an lcd, ok that is take-apartable (i think).
im lucky i don't have any of them here mine is a crt, and not under warranty. :(

LCD's are nice but CRT are better quality picture i think. And CRT are better priced. Bu i do not have room on my PC table for a CRT :(

My Computer teacher told me how to take the current out of a CRT. You have to get a metal thing long enought to touch some metal on the CRT. Then, on the back of the tube theres like a little sucktion cup. You have to slide the other end of the metal under that and let it run to the metal.
Hes done it plenty of times in front of me and I've done it once....but im still really scared haha

which is the opposite of killing someone alive?
you are right about opening monitors up, DONT
LCD is a lil diffrent, thats not dangerous (nothing in an LCD needs that high a voltages), but if you still have warranty on it, DONT........ just take it back.....
