i was weondering, what if you had the save game from the origianl AUF put on the exploit file and used AUF platinum to activate it. Like load the save game. Would that work?

alrighty, i got auf and action replay, but i was stupid enough to order the xbox from dell ( thinking i'd save a few bucks) but it will take 2 weeks for me to get my box, arghh can't wait till the 13th now. Great dell backordered it....now i go buy it @ a real store.

Make sure you burn at 2 speed just to be sure, nd remember there is no guarentue that your media will work, so you could hve just burned 3 coasters.

You can burn at any speed, i havent had a problem with games. I only burned a couple tho, i only store them on my xbox. :) I burnt them at 4x, and no problem at all.

Alternate Way to Softmod the Xbox
Materials List:
Xbox (with a BIOS version earlier than December 2003)
USB adapter cable for the Xbox
USB flash card drive (list of known compatible drives can be found at http://unmodded.mine.nu/docs/XboxUsbCompatibilityList) by flash drive we mean just about any USB memory device (digital cameras, memory sticks, etc)
copy of the MechInstaller files, available at http://http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/xbox-linux/MechInstaller-1.0-FATX-Images.zip?download
copy of the Xbox game "MechAssault" (versions below 1.6)

Preparing the USB flash card:
1. The first step is to format the flash card for the Xbox. The Xbox will do this for you. Start the Xbox with no game in it. The program that runs when no game is inserted is called the Dashboard. Once the Dashboard has started, hook up the flash card via the USB adapter. After waiting several seconds, enter the memory menu in the Dashboard. If the flash card is not detected, exit the memory menu and wait several more seconds. The reason for waiting is allowing the Xbox time to format the flash card.
2. Once the Xbox has formatted the flash card check to see how much space is available on the flash card. The Xbox will not give you a number in megabytes but rather in "blocks" the unit of memory used by the Xbox. These should be the conversions for the following sizes. 8MB ~500 16MB ~1000 32MB ~2000 64MB ~4000 128MB ~8000 256MB ~16000 It may not exactly match one of the above numbers but it will be close enough that you should be able to tell which size you have.
3. Now remove the flash card from the Xbox and connect it to a PC. Put the MechInstaller file on the memory card. There is a different file for different size flash cards. Here is a list of filenames and the size of the card they will fit on: 8MB use MechInstaller-1.0-FATX-8MB-to-32MB.img 16MB use MechInstaller-1.0-FATX-8MB-to-32MB.img 32MB use MechInstaller-1.0-FATX-8MB-to-32MB.img 64MB use MechInstaller-1.0-FATX-64MB.img 128MB use MechInstaller-1.0-FATX-128MB.img 256MB use MechInstaller-1.0-FATX-256MB.img Now the flash card is ready.
Installing mechinstaller on the Xbox:
1. Once again, plug the flash card into the Xbox running the Dashboard and go to the memory menu.
2. Select the flash card, there should be a savegame file on it. Copy this file to the Xbox hard drive.
Using mechinstaller:
1. Disconnect the flash card drive and USB adapter. Plug in an Xbox controller and put in MechAssault.
2. When MechAssault starts up select "CAMPAIGN" and then "Install Linux". 3. This should install a minimal Linux system. Next time you start up your Xbox and go to the Dashboard there should be another item in the main menu called "Linux" this will start the minimal Linux system. From there, you can install a full version of Linux using a CD from http://xbox-linux.org (http://xbox-linux.org/) .

Hah, thanks to a dell screw up i got 2 xboxes now( since my mom didnt know i canceled the dell order she signed for it, now i got to wait for an ups carrier to pick the sucker up ), going to softmod tonight, cant wait :-D great timing, especially with the 3 day weekend

My modding wont without any probs although iwasnt sure when to i could turn the xbox off, but my xbox is reading all my dvds so its cool. now all i need is a nic and a crossover cable.

Its more of what you prefer then whats better. I know that XBMC has a radio with thousands of stations. You can watch movie trailers and other stuff.
To install all you do is extract the zip/rar after you d/l it. Get the main folder that has the .xbe file in it. You can delete all the .txt files. Then drag that over to your xbox. It'll take a few seconds to copy everything. Then just restart your xbox.

What i mean is what are you using to FTP to your xbox, what program.
IE, CuteFTP, FlashFXP, ect...
And you should use this method to ftp if you are not behind a router

isn't D:\ the dvd partition... i've always had my stuffs on E:\... and some on C:\
if you get a bigger hd you can activate F:\ and G:\
i'm pretty sure you made a typo... 'cause you know all this stuff :lol:

after you softmod and get access through ftp its not that hard....
you'll see the folders c,d,e,f...x,y,z, your main storage folder will be e:/ (in this folder youll find a "tdata" and "udata" folder, this is where savegames are stored)
in e:\, make an application folder (most people name it "apps"), if youre using flashFXP right click inside E:\ and select "make folder"...
all the applications come in one folder per application, just move this folder to e:\apps\...inside each application folder should be a "default.xbe" this is the executable, it will run the application, this is just basic knowdledge...
if you try to make an app run as a dashboard, (i.e, xbmc) you have to make a few more modifications (nothing hard though) i currently have it as my main dash, and it works great... make sure you read all the documents that come with the package, and post back if you need more help...

The enigmah video switcher does'nt patch the games it changes the video region setting on the xbox. There are a few games you'd need it for (some EA titles I think.)

Yes, AR is used for putting codes/gamesaves on the xbox.

I just made the guide easier and cut out a few steps by uploading my gamesave that i use all the time.
This should also get rid of any "Error 21" problems that anyone may experience.

When I get here:

Go down and selelct "Install UDE". Press A to continue. Press UDE2 (You must have a NTSC xbox for this!). If you dont, hit A. This is where my video cuts off. But you can either choose XMX or EvoX as your new dashboard. I prefer EvoX, as do many others.]
When I try to install UDE2 it says "Can't find update.xbe"
Everything works fine up until then.
What should I do?

This xbox is ver1 and has never been on XBL...not sure of the dashboard...but it shouldn't matter with this exploit right?

Even when I add it to the package.

In the files folder... if I just name it update.xbe it would all fit on the memory card. :-|

On the new xboxes I redownloaded the zip and it worked well... :]
Agent Smith gave me another zip to try and thats what i was using over here wih these xbox's
evox is installed and running...now i have to find out how to get new apps over to the hardrive...

Even when I add it to the package.

In the files folder... if I just name it update.xbe it would all fit on the memory card. :-|

Well i guess the exploit had nothing to do with the problem, turns out is dvd drive is fucked. it opens slowley and inch at a time. Guess hell have to take it in and get it serviced..... Fuckin thompson drives.....

NO, you can play the games on the hdd, but not online. Its said that if you have a retail game and you put it in and skip the dash then it will work.

and when I rename unleashs xbe to xboxdash.xbe I reboot to a error 13 [dashboard error]
Is this evox install different than others? Where is the xbe that is used to load evox?

Yeah that was it...
In case anyone else wants to use unleashx with this softmod you have to FTP unleashx's xbe to the /E/Dashboard/ folder...
Either rename your original EvoX dashbaord to something else or overwrite it with this Default.xbe

I heard they was an updated ltools but its not on xbins. The works perfectly fine how it is now though. I just softmodded 4 brand new xboxs today and yesterday using it.
The front LED should turn green when its finished. If you have a new xbox, the screen will mess up while installing. So dont worry about that.

Depends on which method you want to do it. If you do it through a router, what type of router do you have?

What happened when you tried it? With v1.6 xboxs (the newest ones) when the mod is installing, the screen will turn all different colors and looks very messed up. I will make a video of the entire process soon.
But when the screen messes up, just let the xbox sit for up to 20 minutes, you should then see the front eject led flashing green. That means its done.

1.) Here's what happen when i tried it: When i turned on the Xbox with the memory card it didnt do anything, it just went right straight the regular Xbox screen. Then i tried loading the file with the game and it crashed which shows a screen that says "Service required Call customer Support." I've let it sit there for about 20 mins and nothing happen so i just turned it off. Maybe you could help me..

1. You have to first save the gamesave to the xbox and load it from the xbox.
2. It doesnt matter.
3. I have used several WD 200 hds. Check the compatability chart to see if the model you are getting is compatible. It prob is cause most WDs are.

1. Do not have a game in the drive, boot up the xbox, go to memory, select the controller, hit A to select the gamesave, select copy, select the xbox, its pretty easy.

Download the zip to the desktop. Start the Action Replay software. Drag it to the memory card side.

what? ok I did Unistall UDE and all the junk was still in my C: Drive. Same when i did C: Cleanout or w/e its called... I don't want to get rid of my mods... I just want to know how to get on Live cause its not working. And if i find a way how do u sneak past the BIOS checker dude. :( I really wanna play live...

i you have 2 HDs, you can have the original one on an un-modded state (just how it came), and the other one modded...
when you wanna go on live, open the xbox, unplug the modded hd, plug the un-modded hd, and play live with no worries... when youre done, plug the modded hd...
if you have only the original hd.
back up E and C drives on your pc, uninstall the softmod, do a "clean up" and play on live...
when youre done, install the mod, and copy the backed up C and E drives to your xbox... not easy, i know... but its not that hard...

I tried ftp'ing into my xbox and it connected cause it showed the E: and other drives on my xbox. Well I'm using cuteftp and when I drag and drop my skins folder or any other folder into the xbox's E: drive it starts flashing at the top of cute ftp and it says Xfer is using current session and flashes back to connected right after. This happens through out the whole thing and at the bottom at the progress bar it says 0 the quickly flashes like 314.23 kb then it goes back down to 0. Also in the time left section it stays at 0 and my transfer rate is only like 8.00 kb so whats wrong here.
The files do go in the E: drive right.

There are emlators for xbox to play those consoles, try google or xbins to finding them. when you get them thet are like apps, but them in apps folder, and find some roms, and thats it.. personally i only tried out snes and it worked fine.

Ok I really need your help here. I got a run linux save for mech assault to softmod my xbox. Then I wanted to play Xbox Live so, I tried to find a thing to uninstall it and now for some reason it goes to that black screen with the green letters. I dont know what to do and I really need some help now. If theres anything I can do to get it back to the regular dashboard just tell me what I can do.

So I just ran the mod this morning and everything worked great. Thanks for the tip that I did not need an official Xbox memory card. One quick question about X box live do I need to back up everything and uninstall it. After I loaded Halo 2 into my dashboard it seemed to unload the evox dashboard. Also if I do need to back it up to make sure I don't get kicked off do I need to have auf game to re install the crack. Thanks again, this was the easiest guide I found; I will definitely be sharing it with everyone I know!

So I got Evox loaded fine and I got into my files fine on the xbox though when I transfer files to the xbox nothing seems to happen. I copyed xboxmediacenter and I can see it in the e: drive on my computer though the xbox does not show it. I tried switching to the MMX dashboard and it saw the mediacenter though it would not run it. TIA!

SingaBoiy I commend you on your effort to enlighten us all with soft-modding, but the way you explained it in your "Soft Modding made easy" tutorial was that all you need is the AR, The Agent under Fire game, and the And the 007 game save. I followed your directions and it didn't work.

**To save time, I used the correct game, AUF non platinum, did my transfer correctly from AR to XBOX. Booted up the game ,Loaded the "Mission" (without memory card)
What Happens: The screen goes black and the MXM (The matrix looking screen boots up) I continue the steps and I even get the screen at the end that tells me everything was successful (And I wait untill it tells me its ok to turn off my xbox). Turn off the xbox, I remove the game (AUF) and then restart the xbox. Where is the Evox screen as seen in your video? ;) All I get is the ERROR SCREEN 21 with all the languages.... EVERYTIME.
Then I don't figure out until later on (while reading pretty much every post in this thread) that some FTP operations have to be done. Why didn't you say this in your "Made easy Tutorial" If I had known it was more involved than what you advertised I would have never spend my money and time to drive 35 miles back and forth to get the last remaining AR in my county :angry: :( Its just not right, all the follow ups in your post after your Tutorial are in pieces that are difficult to put together.
Keep it real and give a full tutorial, its not as easy as you wrote it up to be thats why many users were having problems (I noticed from my reading).
You have to do IRC to get EvoX installer....but then again you need the media app ...but then you need the xbins.....and then you need itools which I assume came with the 007 save.
