What are the "reputations" in the forums
Reputations are points gained or lost on individual posts within
the discussion forums. Because these are tied to individual posts, they reflect
back on the person who made the post, thus giving them a reputation.
You can give members a positive reputation point(s) as a thanks. If someone
blasts a thread with an off-topic post or with negative comments, you can give
them a negative reputation. With time, these reputations will help the "star
posters" rise and the people who only provide noise to become visible as well.
Is it possible to cheat the system? Yes, but as it was in the old days, the forum
moderators and I are aware of many of the ways to cheat the system and will
take appropriate actions.
Reputations are indicated by a small graphic. The more positive your reputation,
the more visible the graphic will become. This will be displayed by all your posts
and in your profile. To add to someone's reputation, you will click a small scale
graphic on the upper, right area of the post. It looks like a scale or balance.
This will result in a pop-up window as shown in Figure 1.
http://www.developer.com/img/articles/2004/07/13/Image1.gif
Figure 1: The Reputations window.
In this window, you can either give a positive point (approve) or negative
(disapprove). You should also add a comment on why you approve or
disapprove. If this is your post, you'll be able to see the reputation points you
have by clicking on the scale.
Reputations come with rules. You only get a certain number of points each day, so use them only for the best postings and responses.

User Reputation in its simplest form is a ranking of your user's benefit to your forum. Its basis comes from the opinions of all of your forum users that choose take part in it.
Users gain and lose reputation based on how their posts are scored by other forum participants. Users with the ability to affect reputation, will either give or take aways points by approving or disapproving with a post's content.
User reputation can be a derisive element of your forum so great care should be taken before a decision is made to enable it.
All of the factors that affect a user's reputation score are found in the User Reputation section of the vBulletin Options. Please view that section of the manual for more information on controlling how users are able to affect another user's reputation.

where do we go to see how many points of rep we have, and how many points do you get each day, anddd how many points does it give each person we rate good.
Also, if we rate someone bad, does that take points from our daily use?
Edit: still confused lol....can like one of my post be rated a 15 and another one be rated a -8 or does it all average together for the total?

How long until they take it off because of abuse?
You can rate this as a bad comment but you know I'm right.

I admit your right.
especially for lounge people who just keep playing around to have fun with it.
maybe only mods and admins and forum stars should be allowed to change the reputation.

It does seem a bit of a childish function

We're probably the only ones who'd get it right.
Maybe only lounge posters should be allowed to use it.

We need these questions answered...lol
Is there any way for me to see how much rating i have left?

Reputation and such, pretty much useless feature in this board,
if there is a way to abuse it, it will be abused.

It's not really on is it?
I really dread a good reputation. Really.
It's bullshit. Being liked in real life is good enough.
