This is a guide for those of you who are looking for graphics cards.
This thread will be updated weekly.
First, lets start with a little information on the two biggest leaders in graphics card production:

ATI makes some of the best graphics cards available. ATIs' line of graphics card that supports DirectX 9 is the Radeon Series.

Nvidia is the other leading graphics card company. Nvidias DirectX 9 version of graphics cards is the FX series.

I will not say which card is best for your money unless you PM me. Look at these benchmarks and see which cards perform best.

ˇHigh Quality Benchmarks
Here are the high quality benchmarks. By this I mean that Anisotropic and Antialaising filtering is on. What these do is smooth out edges that may be ruff or jaged. These are the benchmarks you should look at if you want your games to look increadibly good.

Keep in mind that 30 frames per second is said to be very smooth with no jumping or jerkyness.

It should be noted that the Nvidia cards with the XT symbol is the equivilant of the SE symbol. This is a lighter version of the card. It could have less pipelines, or slower memory and core speeds. These cards are slower then the non XT or SE cards.

Let me see here. Well nobody's going to have a problem with your intentions, big dawg; clearly they are good.
However, as far as a pinned topic goes, it is really hard to pin something that summarizes something as volitile as the graphics card market, which changes literally every day.
There are some instances where I noted that the links you provided were not really the cheapest available on todays market. Some of today's cheapest hardware can be found at allstarshop.com and zipzoomfly.com; but it really depends on what day of the week it is, if you know what I mean.
Another issue is the fact that a large proportion of the members of this forum do not live in the United States, and although many members do know the value of the US dollar as a multiple of their currency, it might not help those who do not.
Today the Sapphire Technologies Radeon 9800 Pro is available at allstarshop.com in the RETAIL form for $225 USD. However, in the UK, and most of Europe (who's currency is the Euro), the exact same Sapphire Technologies Radeon 9800 Pro costs significantly more than $225 USD. Sapphire decided to lower the price in the US because that is where the equilibrium price for that card is today. Different countries have different markets big dawg, so it might be a better idea to stick with summarizing what qualities a card has rather than its price.
Other than that, big dawg, it looks nice. I am just trying to point a couple of things out that came to mind while I was reading your post.

I've been watching these developments. I may add this info to the pinned section if people agree.
More information needs to be added. It needs to be more than just a list. For example, Which ones have the minimum requirements for all games available now? Or what are the best drivers and where to find them? What is the best brand (there are many brands of both ATI and Nvidia). Things like that.
Also I think it's a bit biased to say things like "ATI makes some of the best graphics cards available." Not all their models are better that similarly priced Nvidia products. It depends on which models are being compared.

Alright, thanks for your suggestions. I noticed as I was laying in bed last night that there was not much point to this topic, although it is good information for noobs. Today I plan on adding benchmarks and which ones will meet minimum requirments.
@Adam- I know those arent the cheapest places. I was just giving those links so people could see a pic of the card and some other specs. TigerDirect was easier to find it on then newegg, and it still took about 2 and a half hours. I will work on it some more today.
Like I said, when XGI comes in I will list all of there cards. I'm on this forum all the time, as you all know, and have plenty of time to keep this thread updated.
@VB- I will work on it some more today and hopefully you will like it. Most of the brands are almost equal arent they? I know Asus adds fans and cool stuff but really there cant be too much diff. Some people may think powercolor isnt great, but my benchmarks are awesome and i love it.I think it has gotten votes to be pinned already. :)
Do you want me to list minimum requirments for good playing or just whats on the box? Sometimes whats on the box will not play the game too smooth...
like I said..ill work on it some more and hopefully yall will like it even better :)

One reason why I didnt want to list which cards are best and stuff is because that will make it more controversial...ATI has made the best DX9 cards in my opinion though.

I noticed that you do not have the NVIDIA 5900XT in your guide. Dollar for dollar, it is a great card at the ~$200 USD price point. From what I have read, the 5900XT is an excellent performer, and members who, for whatever reason, prefer NVIDIA, should be made aware of it.

My response to that would be no. ATI manufactured cards are good of course. Saphire and hercules are also very good.
Some people may say Powercolor isnt the best, but I have a powercolor radeon 9700Pro and it works AWESOME!

Correct. Ram does not matter near as much as some things.
Memory Interface size, core speed, memory speed, and pixel pipelines are probably some of the most important.
And yes I hear 30FPS is perfect to the human eye so I guess more doesnt really matter...but cards that run 30FPS will often drop to 5 or 10 making it horrible. Cards that run 100FPS will only drop to like 50 or 60...making it still perfect. Also, the more FPS you pull, the more filtering you can add, and that makes the games look alot better.

AGP stands for Accelerated Graphics Port btw.
4x/8x AGP slots are much faster than any PCI slot, so the best graphics cards are allways AGP.

I dont want to post benchmarks of the new cards really yet...I prob will end up doing it. It is so confrentational right now lol they are so close...Im starting to think the 6800Ultra is the best though, especially since there is talk bout the x800xt pe being cancled...if it isnt already.

That is a good card, but not having at least 8 pipelines is hurting its performance..It should be default set to application based...so a game will turn it on if u can use it.

Because the ati dx9 cards then ati..like 9800 and 5900 series. I would still take the 5900XT over the 9600XT though...
