DUde, if u can play HAlf Life 1, and that lags for you, then definately no, ur computer wont work good. The one reccomendation I can say for people is, if you can play Doom 3 at Medium and 800x600, and it doesnt lag, HL2 will work fine. Otherwise, if Doom3 works on low, try turning the graphics down on HL. Source engine is quite light on the computer.

yes, unlike the doom3 engine, the source engine is hella optimized and is easy on the comp. hell i remember i could run HL2 beta (back in da day) with my 1.2 ghz, 384mb ram, and geforce mx 100/200 32 mb card at 800x600 medium settings and i got in the 22fps range. can't wait for the proper release.

Either a release within 2-3 days or there will be no release. Already the head cracked of EMPORiO who released Half Life 2 is in jail over the game, it depends on if groups re going to risk it.

As far as i know this is a fully cracked version of the game. It emulates steam. 1.6gb big becuase o massive compression, unrar's to more thn double he 1.6gb size. Im geting now to seed on Fasttracker so i will post if it works or not in about an hours time.

I thought it would just be the name of the website, but nope it sure isnt. I tried all kinda different variations of it, but none of them seem to work. In the file list within winrar, theres a text file called 'password here'. Well how can i read it if I cant open it???? Whats the point in putting passwords on this shit anyways? Anyone help?

any program which needs Online activation is hard to crack unless they got acitivation over phone like Norton products.
so this kills ability of some gamers to play Hl2 if they dont have internet.

peerzyboy, are you talking about that 1608mb version? I just got the password to that rar file i was asking about earlier, had to go to the forums and sort through spanish to find it but I found it. Anyways, I think valve may have had a plan for the people who wanted to download. They figured if they could postpone a good cracked version long enough, even if just a week, it would force those who really wantd to play the game but initially intended on just downlaoding it to go out and buy it. Sounds logical to me. The download I got coems with two other files, ones a fix, and the other is an activation. However, I just clicked launcher.exe, and started playing. ive gotten to a part where im going through an underground railroad, and theres this helicopter following me shooting at me. So I think its safe to say this version works, even though im just at the beginning and not sure if itll work all the way through.

peerzyboy, what did you mean by its "not full scene release"...? Yea the version on FastTracker is fully working. I have it myself. :) He prolly means its now a full scene release because u just download the Half LIfe 2 folder instead of the .iso.

true im afraid - steam is fine once installed and is great for bothe cs scource online and half life 2 - but it takes bloody ages to install when you first get the game. im on 56k and it honestly took about 1 1/2 hours between getting the game home and playing it
its all straight forward - but a right pain in the arse

Whenever I want to play the game, I get the whole "Connecting to Steam" "Preparing to play Half Life 2" thing...
How can I play in offline mode, even though I have a 24/7 connection, I don't want Steam running in background...
It says on the reference card to select Remember My Password on the login screen, but which is the login screen cuz I can't find that option!

i am going to rape VAVLE!!!!! everytime i try installing the game it installs just fine until CD4, it comes up with an error saying HL2.ico (or sumthin like that) cannot be found in HL42.cab file (something similiar to that) and it stops installing. WTF do I do now? this is fuked up, i spent nearly $60 on this game and i can't even fukin install it. this is fukin gay.!

Im stuck in East Black Mesa. Help! Ok, I get into this room with an elevator and im following some lady and when she presses the elevator button and the elevator comes up and she doesnt do anything. I have tried pressing the elevator button and tried to open the other doors in the room but they are locked. What do I do?

if this doesnt fix the problem i'll upload my saved game from just after that point. Its not a downloaded versions fault. Valve are working on a patch.

ive got the retail version - so maybe theres a bug in the crack release - but in my game after you talk to the old guy - one women goes to check the equipment and the other goes up to check the electronics up above. the daughter will then lead you out of the room youre in to test the new gun.
have you tried talking to all the charectors and testing the machine in the corner that revovles matter -worked for me pal
let me know if youre still stuck and ill go back to an earlier save and see what happens exactly - it was a few days ago now - maybe ive forgotten something - the narrative should continue after a while and you get lead out of the room by the daughter

right - with you now - i was describing the next big once the elevator has taken you down.
whats sposed to happen is she calls the elevator and you and her step in before she takes you down to meet the old man. i went back to an earlier save for you - and when you follow her once you first meet her, she leads you to the elevator and it all happend from there automatically
i dont really know how to help cos it seems your games got stuck for a bit - her ai doesnt seem to continue as it should. have you tried pressing 'use' to talk to her? or trying to push her into the lift? or maybe gettin gin ahead of her and pressing the button (if there is one?)
trying to help mate - but dont really know why your game seems to have stalled.....
i could send you a save file from just after the elevator if that helps - but someone would have to tell me how to do this as i aint got a clue?
just a thought to get you past that bit - you certainly dont want to have to restart the game or wait for a patch!

erm, u need Internet connection for the duration of the activation process
that means u must register online, and then download the activation files and after that, u can play it offline

i've done about 3 levels so far with a squad and they're dumb as fuck. they all have A.D.D, are suicidal and block your path/crosshairs when you're being shot to pieces.

if youre talking cs source of course you have to be online for the whole time you play tho - it being an online game!

nope as you complete levels steam downloads more encription keys. Every few levels it has to connect to steam.

oh right i see what you mean - yeah that makes sense cos now and again - steam has to update half life before it lets me play. so yeah - id say every 3 levels (where a new level is where it has to load) it does this
i hadnt noticed to be honest cos i tend to play for a few hours then come back to it later - but if youre planning to paly it for hours on end then i suppose you would have to be connected to internet the whole time.
if you only play for a few hours at a time though - it doesnt matter about being online - just be prepared to have to let steam update the next time you want to play

yeah you can flip cars. theres a part where a flipped one bit by bit to some gun emplacements because my peeps have ADD and cant stay in the same place for five seconds. i hope valve do something about that

ok this fixed the AI problem but i get Steam Connection error while loading my saved file, i trick it and dont click the "OK" on error window and simply resume game but after few min's game got crashed... i tried it only once it m8 work next, gotta sleep :sleep1:
untill then if u want to try the fix make sure to back up Hl2 and Bin folders before apply patch.

I downloaded a version off suprnova last night and just installed it but now it comes up with an error while its loading the first level for me and says it could not connect to steam to download the files can anyone help me im already almost at my limit for bandwidth and ive already gotten 2 warnings so i dont wanna download anymore stuff :|

What system you got?
Runs mostly OK on high settings (!) with my relatively crap Athlon Xp 2000, 512 mb ram and radeon 8500 (soon to be upgraded). In fact this is probably the best a new PC game has run on my system for ages!
Edit: On regards to my earlier comment; You know you've played too long when everytime you close your eyes you see barrels and broken wood :lol:

Ok well my game has become stalled as well. Im in nova prospekt, right after the part where alyx watches the video of the one girl, showing shes in on the bad shit. Im then sent to a prison area where Im supposed to set up 3 turrets to help me fend off soldiers. Well the first time I played this part, all these soldiers came through, but I died and just exited game. When I started again, the ai_disabled thing came up, so i typed in console 'ai_disable' to activate it again. Well this time only like 3 soldiers came through, and alex told me over radio she would be right there. I waited like 15 mins, no more soldiers, no alyx, no way to progress. It does this even when I load from a further save point. I had to get through a door with noclip, and now I need alyx to use a computer thing, but she wont come. What can I do?
