Developers cracking down on people like us lol Twenty thousand? Imagine everyone that has pirated the game in total with the Emporio versions, and every other version that doesnt even require fucking steam. Fuck you Valve. I'm at the bit where that guy tells you to jump through the window. I jumped through it and theres a door and a white drum with some bottles around it. The fucking door won't open :(
I opened the console and typed in ai_disable 0 and ai_disable 1 but no joy. What an I missing here?

dont actually have an autoexec.cfg but found the same line in a file i used from the RVL all versions fix (ai_fix.cfg)..deleted the line in that so hope it works now...

yeah but i'm really impatient, and when i d/l emporio from suprnova it sat at zero for OVER THREE MINUTES so i tried mister froggy and she started right up like she was sucken diesel! I know that ultimatly i'm gonna be really annoyed that ive wasted twelve hours of downloading arse juice, but what the hay, i once spent two days d/ling 2g of what i though was music progams but turned out to be women in nappies, NAPPIES, 2 GIGs of pictures of WOMEN IN NAPPIES, as you can imagine i was overjoyed.

what does this actually do? sorry to sound like such a newbie - but if you can use cs source to play multiplayer maps - why would you need to do this?
is it importing the scenes and graphics over to cs play? or letting two players play the half life 2 story or what?
if someone can take the time to explain this to an amateur id apprecaite it! i thought mods were more grahic overlays (letting you play as stromtroopers in original half life etc for example)
what is the actual mod on this one?

It is making a server with all of the things from Half Life 2. Counter Strike: Source is just the original CS with the Source core, and graphics. HL2 Multiplayer would have different weapons, and everything else that is different from Counter-Strike. Read the tutorial if you have other questions.

Motion Sick?
A few tips I've gotten to reduce motion sickness:
* do what you can to increase framerate/reduce framerate fluctuation (reduce screen res, sound and video quality settings)
* setting fps_max to something reasonable may help
* activating mat_vsync may help
* switching from FOV 75 (default) to FOV 90 may help
Other tips I've received:
* while in vehicles, run into less things
* throw up... you'll feel better for a while

1) Update your monitor's drivers.
2) Find out the Maximum Refresh Rate that your monitor supports for the resolution that you prefer gaming on (lowering resolution will result in higher possible refresh rates). This step is just for informational purposes. You may skip it since Step 4 completes this.
3) Download RefreshForce (Google it).
4) Tell it to "Auto Find" your refresh rates and modes. Click Apply.
5) Go to Steam --> Right click Half-Life 2 --> select Properties --> Launch Options.
Now you can specify the width, height and refresh rate of the screen on which you will be playing. Mine, for example is this: -w 1024 -h 768 -refresh 100
This means I am running a resolution of 1024x768 at a refresh rate of 100hz.
6) Click OK and close the Properties window.
7) It's best to restart your computer now, since you applied that RefreshForce fix.

I had that trouble too.
I saved the game when the Girl was Stuck doing/going anything/anywhere.
Then came here to look up some info, found it and load up the game.
And I load up the Save File where the Girl was stuck, and it continued from there,
she just walked into the elevator (elevator was on the same floor allready)
and kept talking as the elevator started moving...
Try that, might help.
Short version: Save the game, Load up the same Save-game.

So, after playing HL2 which looks and feels like a cool game,
I have desided not to buy the game. Atleast not before the Steam is

I downloaded the deviance version of hl2, i installed it and i applied all neccesary crack from the vengeance folder , but when i go to open the game , it opens the steam program. is this supposed to happen with this version ? im just a bit worried cause valve could easily detect my account/ip then delete it...

That isnt true at all. You dont need steam whatsoever to play CS: Source. I wish you would please know what you are talking about before you give answers to people, and/or correct them. All you need is a steam account, that is it, then you can uninstal steam from your computer and whatever else. Then you use the Emporio/Luzifer patches and you are up and working.

Haha, TheDave your posts make no sense. Anways for the post before that, I would suggest buying it, but as long as games stay 50$ and up, there is no way in hell I am ever buying a game again. HL2 isnt that old. I have beaten cracked HL2, and I have cracked CS:Source, the only thing i cant get to work is deathmatch. But i am sure in time i will be able to get that to work. I guess if you dont want to go through a little trouble, you can shell out half a benjamin for a few CD roms but oh well.

I burned the image files do disc and have installed the game with them seven times now, and early today, while using CD 4, I get this frigging error. So I figure, I must've done something to the cd so it was unreadable, so I began mounting the image files, and I get the same fucking message for the fourth image file. This makes absolutely no sense, since I have been able to install the game with these same files seven times in the past twenty-four hours. What the hell happened? Does Vishnu hate me?

Make a folder on Hard Drive - Call it Half Life Disks. Copy all .cab files, .dll, .ini, .inf, and .msi files from the disks to folder. Run hl2.msi.
This bug was also reported when people used the original disks

Im the chapter "Follow Freeman",my question is that when i get to the building where i have to diasable generators, i get to this one room where there are all these turrets. After i destroy all these turrets there is no way to get out of the room , i've searched everywhere. May some one please tell me how to please ?

Alright what i meant to say is that, there are all these red wires that lead to the generator room, if i cross it , this makes like 6 turrets pop up and start shooting at me . What i have to do is sneak to through the ref light and disable the security system, do you or anyone know how i can do ? I already tried gamefaq and its no good for what i'm trying to do...

That didnt work either. But I figured out what the problem was. It only gives you the error if you tell it not to install CS Source. But as long as you install both of them, then the install works.

turn right from where you are in that screen shot, theres a wall near where you entered the room, jump and land on the very edge of that wall. then jump across to the ventilation thing. this will probably take 6000 attempts but it worked for me

What's so special about the Vengeance version? According to Valve, both retail and Steam versions of HL2 have the problem. A patch has been released for both via Steam. Does the Vengeance release have the patch incorporated somehow?

Sorry man. The stuttering REALLY got on my nerves. I managed to finish the game, so it doesn't really matter anymore. I subsequently aquired the Vengeance release, and it's alot better. You are wrong about it being pre-patched, though. I had the download the v7 update seperately.

I have the emporio release...and my audio gets screwed up..it sounds all echo and scratchy..it wasnt always like it..is there some sort of patch for it?

that's an official bug from Valve. everyone experiences this problem

Half-Life_2_Retail-VENGEANCE is a retial scene releease so if you have problems with it you will have problems with the retial version as well.

Ok say I just got a hold of HL2 I would notice that there seems to be about a bazillion updates, patches and the like. could someone please help me by telling me very briefly what I would need to play the game in the best possible most stable way. Btw I would only want to play it on my own not on the web or anything. Here is the solution for A.I.disabled bug:
Go into your hl2\cfg\ folder, and create a txt file, inside this text file, write the following lines.
ai_norebuildgraph "1"
ai_disable "0"
Save, then rename the text file to ai_fix.cfg, right click the file and set it to read only.
Next, open up valve.rc in notepad, you should see the following
// load the base configuration
//exec default.cfg
// Setup custom controller
exec joystick.cfg
// run a user script file if present
exec autoexec.cfg
//
// stuff command line statements
//
stuffcmds
// display the startup level
startupmenu
under "exec autoexec.cfg", add this line

I thought the game was great, you prob should play number 1 first though. The graphics were spot on, the world around seem'd so life like. When you first get to wander City 17 everyone i s walking around getting on with their lives and so on. The game features some great phisics and uses the Havok rag doll effects and Source engine to its fullest. Also i think as the story continues the game gets better with the ending a slight disappointment but at least i can sleep well knowing there will be a third. Also Half Life 2 comes with not one but two great multiplayer games. Some games don't even include one.
Compared to every other FPS out now this game stands Head, Shoulders, Body and feet above them.

(wanting to throw it out the window it sucked so bad) I thought the original HL was on of the dumbest, most repetitive games I had ever played. Number 1 is still a classic. Even with the bad graphics i could easly sit through and play it again, infact i have been doing the last 3 weeks. Iv been playing Half Life: Source which is just number 1 but with better graphics. If you say the reason you won't play a game is because of bad graphics then your missing out on hundreds of great games and missing the whole point of a game.
And i was saying play Half Life 1 before you play HL2 as right now chances are he doesnt know what the feck is going on.

Sorry are are you a retard? Counter Strike is Half Life! Its a modification of it. Once you get past the first few levels i think the game gets very fast and i liked the sense of you having to get out of City 17 as soon as possible. The water boat thing went on for too long the first time i played it but the second time when i was playing on hard it was just right i knew where to go but it was a challege to get there. Quality stuff imo.

It's true, Half-Life 2 is slower paced than most shooters. However, I believe that is why the experience so immersive. The whole game is a joy ride where you bask in the world's gritty beauty. Driving down the coastline was an amazing experience.
