What´s SW Battlegrounds about?

I just got the StarWars Battlegrounds game,
instaled it and started it very excited about it,
but once it starts, I find out that it is not what I tought...
I mean, I have never played an strategi game, but, is
it a strategy game or what, cus all I see are some little people
just standin there by themselves.
I know I know, I´ll look for a guide or something,
but just tell me something, anything...
