Problems With Tmpgenc

Can anyone help. When making an SVCD in TMPGEnc plus, I get problems when encoding from xvid. I have downloaded and installed the nimo codec pack build9 but this does not seem to help.
Sometimes i get a message saying that the movie file is not supported and sometimes the software freeses up resulting in blue screen error !!!!! Does this sound familiar to anyone ?

Pretty sure for encoding to SVCD with TMPGenc you need to install a specific SVCD addon for it.
