Its a known bug that only happens with Firefox, theres a fix but no one has implimented it into the boards code and i cannot remember what piece of code we put into what file. Something about the big_user line?

ok then, that explains it :)

yea i was gonna post about this i thought the board was fucked or somethin.

to fix it (in firefox) add this line to your usercontent.css file found in c:\documents and settings\{name}\application data\mozilla\firefox\profiles\default.xxx\chrome\:
a[class="bigusername"] { font-weight:bold; font-size:1em !important; text-decoration:none;}

This fix doesn't work for me, altho' each time it's posted I always give it another go :frusty:

It used to work for me, but it doesn't any more. I think it's something to do with the skins, I use Synapse.
I'll check it out again when I get home though.

works fine for me...
(with all skins, makes username smaller and removes underline altogether)

Maybe different versions of Firefox?

I found a way to fix it but it also removed other underlines from the forum :frusty:

Good point, I haven't upgraded to the final version. I think I'll do that later and try it then.

try this, in the board's stylesheet place this...
.nounderline{text-decoration: none;}
then in the skin's template place the following tag around the {user_title} part, or whatever it is in vB...
<span class="nounderline">{user_title}</span>
should work

Rossco , the thing you posted didn't work, and i have firefox 1.0 ...
Posted by: nsane
what i posted above should fix it. but no one's got around to trying it yet, i guess

there shoudl actually already be a class or id tag around that...
so all they have to do is figure out what it's called then add "text-decoration:none;" into the css file. ;)

i think that's what IKE did, but he said it removed underlines from the entire board. which is why i said to make a new one

Ok, I've read through this thread and am more confused now
than before.
The strikethrough is rather distracting and annoying.
What is the "final solution", if there be one, for a user with
Firefox 1.0.
Thanks,
Larry

Well using Firefox 1.0 and Chromo skin the problem seems to be fixed right now :)
EDIT: Well its not anymore, for a single refresh there the problem was all fixed

Ok, I just double-checked my User CP and have been using the Chromo Style all along.
I just find it rather odd that with all the sophisticated technology available,
(after all...our E.T. on Titan was even able to call home), that this (seemingly)
minor issue cannot be resolved.
Oh well, no biggee.

In comparing different Browser's and their affect on the strikethrough.
I just copied and pasted the FileSharing Talk Forum address into
my IE6 and opened it.....
Result: NO strikethrough.
So it is indeed a Firefox issue.
:)

I just don't use the offending skin.
umm...he's right ya know.
Of the four choices:
Use Forum Default
Default Style
Synapse Style
Chromo Style
only Default Style and Synapse have no strikethrough.
(edited to add Synapse to those having no strikethrough)
Ok, fine!
I'll stay with Default Style.
Larry :(

Synapse Style doesnt have a 'strikethrough' under the username.

oopsy! My bad!
I stand corrected.

In the skins that do not have the problem noticed your name (Larry) has a underline, on the bad skins that underline has been forced downwards and is overlapping with your member title.

Yep, I see what you mean Peerzy.
It's been identified as a strikethrough from the beginning
of this thread. Thanks for the clarification.
Still, an interesting dilemma for those in charge of such things.

Its because on those skins firefox thinks the text is bigger than it is so it moves the underline down so firefox is thinking that the text is say 18 when its only 14 so the line has been moved as if the text is 18 but its in reality only 14.

if so, the 'fix' i posted on page 2 would fix it...
what's it been now, 2 weeks?
