Thats all so i hope you guys can help thanx!!!!!

I remember. Have you tried connecting the monitor directly to the onboard video out and remove the graphics card?

You should also try clearing the CMOS.

Posted by: zapjb

The title of this thread made me laugh. Sorry, hope you get it all sorted.

Posted by: DarkClown12

yes i have tried both of those to no avail, i think it is another bad f88kn motherboard

Posted by: Virtualbody1234

Recheck all connections. Try only the power supply, motherboard, CPU, and RAM. Remove all the other parts and see if it starts.

Posted by: neevakee

did you ruin the cpu, check it very carfully are there any ships or cracks on the suff on the top. That has haapen to me before.

Posted by: clocker

Somebody actually took our suggestions and built a system?

Crap.

I guess that random lists of parts culled from Newegg won't work anymore.

Disclaimer:
We only told you to buy the parts, not install them.
We are big fans of the pics full of shiny new components and expensive looking boxes, but have no clue how to make them work together.

Kids, that is a job for professionals...do NOT try this at home!

Hey man , i just tried Virtualbody1234 suggestion to no avail i hope someone can help

Posted by: Virtualbody1234

Does it beep, light up, fans spin or do anything? Remember that we cannot see what you see. Tell us more.

Are you sure that everything is connected properly?

Posted by: DarkClown12

i hear no beeps, the case light comes on when power up as well as the cdrw light, the cpu fan spins, and i am almost certain everything is correctly hooked up.

update: i got the computer to boot to the bios now and it is detecting drive, all i did was take cpu fan off and put it back on but the only way it comes on monitor is through vid card and not mobo plug-in.

Posted by: Peerzy

Have you tried accessing the CPU's hardware mainfraim system through the motherboards online ram sockets and using the dvd drive to interface through the hard drive into the BIOS?

Have you tried to install Windows basically?

Posted by: Storm

so its workin now? then just pop in the xp cd and install...........

Posted by: DarkClown12

i just tried to install windows xp pro and nothing is going good did the quick format and gets to 100% thens says "Setup unable to format the partition, disk may be damaged" ne know how to get around this?

Posted by: lynx

You need to effectively start again with the disk, any partition created before the system was using LBA mode will probably be defective at the extremities of the partition because of the difference in sector definition, but it is the definition which is faulty not the drive. The fact that it got to 100% before coming up with the error is a classic symptom of this problem.

The first thing to do is DELETE the partition (that is one of the initial options) before proceeding any further. Once you've done that you can continue and create a new partition. If it still fails then you may have a faulty drive, but I think that's unlikely to happen.

Posted by: Storm

also, dont know if this'll help, but doesnt do any damage trying: do a FULL format....

Posted by: DarkClown12

i hav tried doing a format to no avail, i deleted all partitions and nothing worked thanx ne way

Posted by: Virtualbody1234

Which drive is that?

Is it new? What make and model?

Is it the Western Digital that was recommened? http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-144-122&depa=1

Perhaps the problem is a faulty IDE cable?

Posted by: Chewie

I find it astounding that almost everything DarkClown touches turns to shit.
It's like having a bad day all week.

Yeah it wasn't my fault... but could have been yours!

Posted by: Chewie

Yeah.
To have so many problems with so many systems would indicate either technical inability or a curse. I know which one I consider more likely.

Posted by: DarkClown12

It is a brand new ide cable, they are going to rma the drive back and get a new one from them. i know i hav the worse luck!

there could still be a problem with the ide cable even if it's new.
might as well try another one JUST IN CASE. ;)

Ah don't bother trying to help anymore. :frusty: If he cannot think of doing that himself then he shouldn't try to build computers.

Or maybe the problem is a faulty DarkClown. Then maybe the DarkClown should be replaced. ;)

And hey DarkClown... Why havn't you answered my question?:

Which drive is that?

Newegg lists the DarkClown ver2.0 for $129.99 without the optional 92mm fan.

Wow! What a deal! We should pitch in and get one for the benefit of this hardware section.

Edit: Can that item be RMA'd if the new one's defective?
