i find avastv quite good

Posted by: DanZ

Haven't had any problems with Avast.

Posted by: shibbyshibby

Why so many people still use Norton ?
Me, NOD32, of course...

Posted by: oo3

What are the advantages of Avast and NOD32? I've been using Mcafee for years. I've thought about trying something else, but I'm not too familiar with anti-virus software to make a switch.

Posted by: gustafo

used BitDefender for about a year, but i uses quite a lot of system resources, so i switched to Kaspersky

Posted by: limesqueezer

I used to like BitDefender kind of but new versions ain't my thing anymore

Posted by: Jab

Previously symantec, now mcafee

Posted by: smeghead

VirtualPC. No anti-virus.
If you know you're going to be surfing for porn then why not use a browser that doesn't allow execution of code?
Of your highly legitimate concerns that you may download something with a virus in? As stated my personal preferrence is for virtualization software to check it with, no biggie if a virus runs there.

Posted by: Nightwolf

I recently switched from Norton to AVG and I'm very pleased with it. It took a while to completely flush all of Symantec's services (why do they need so many?) and registry entries, but it was worth it. My systems starts faster and runs better now.

Posted by: pECi

i used norton, bitdefender, panda, nod32, zonealarm with antivirus...no i'm not using anything :D...i only have sygate firewall

Posted by: cra9eman

AVG... free and perfectly adequate

Posted by: integspec

Kaspersky - It's definitely the best engine out there. IMHO, of course :)

Posted by: samoyan

Kaspersky is definitely the best.
Used NOD32 for some time, Norton...

Posted by: masdani

Try nod32 1st, and you will happy with nod32's heuristic technology. I think nod32 better than avast. So, don't wait to try.:D:D

Posted by: kennyboy

Nod 32 seems to do a good job for me, but have to say it doesnt like cleaning. Just finds them..Good enough for me.

Posted by: cheshirecat

Symantec Corporate 10.1.4.4000

In the last two years i were using different antivirus programs Norton, KAV, Nod32, Panda and others. No one of them is as good as Symantec.
This program really protected me more than 2 times!
It's also fast and has no fancy buttons and other shit :)
Just pure good Antivirus Engine

AVG free appealed to me and together with windows xp firewall It gives ennough protection . Everything loads very fast so my boottime is ok. Other virusprograms boot not so fast

Posted by: peat moss

I'm an old Norton fan boy who has recently switched to F-Secure Internet Security , and can't believe the difference in speed , load times ,etc.

Funny how its in the top three according to this link :

http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

Also checks for updates hourly not like some .

i read an article on WINDOWS FIREWALL a couple of years back

Seriously, I use Avast. Never corrupts when overclocking etc, unlike Norton/Symantec and its free.

Posted by: faresalandlos

avast the last version

Posted by: sert

KIS 6.0.1.411

For the minimum resources: kick ass virus protection, very decent firewall and unmatchable proactive defense.

Posted by: ZeD_FileZ

Avast; i can't belive ppl still use norton (what a bunch of bloated cr*p)

yes, at one time it was the best and I would not live without it but in the last 5 years or so its just awful! It needs a lowfat diet!

on the other hand McAfee was a crash looking for a computer to happen now its my first choice.

Posted by: ZeD_FileZ

I don't use any and have never had a problem.

Its worth the download... could save you countless hours! (unless your time and data are useless) its not expensive and there are some great free versions!

whilst your at it get A firewall to complete the package!

Posted by: utunes

Kapersky is the best

Posted by: ManDeal

i've been using Symantec 9.0.0.338 for like 2 years now. no fancy looks but it quietly does its job.

Posted by: berberine

Avast; i can't belive ppl still use norton (what a bunch of bloated cr*p)

While I use NOD32, I completely agree. I used norton until about 3 years ago. My computer crashed every 3-4 days on me because norton kept eating my ram. I switched to NOD32, after recommendations from nearly everyone I spoke to and have never had the crashing problem again. NOD32 has such a smaller footprint too. I've been very happy with it and never intend to return to norton.

Posted by: UK2b

I use norton. :P

Posted by: kiosk

I use NOD32

Posted by: Pure_Oxygen

I use AVG - best AV software out there.

UK2B: You should be shot for using such a pathetic and memory consuming program :P

Posted by: 0ctane

Nod 32 on lappy and AVG 7.5 on main pc :)

Posted by: creepingdeath

I use F-Secure.

But, It isn't in the poll. :D

Posted by: r9batista

I'm using f-secure and its the best

Posted by: ahmedreda

Norton antivirus

Posted by: mbucari1

I used avast for over a year and used to recommend it to everybody, but it kept giving me too many false positives and I think it took a while for them to update their definitions. I now use Kaspersky. It can be a bit intrusive, but it makes me feel more secure.

I still recomend avast for those who need a free av

Posted by: Hitman86

i use NOD32.....Kaspersky is also very good

Posted by: psyholic

kaspersky is the best!

Posted by: terrorize

Posted by: ed357911

avast! / comodo
i'm surprised more people don't use the free stuff.
i've never had a problem using this combo.

Posted by: andybreene

Interesting to see NOD32 at the top - I'd never heard of that

Posted by: ed357911

Taking into consideration the overwhelming praise for NOD32, I've decided to give it a go; so far so good. Also, switching over wasn't as difficult as I thought it'd be.
I used the following site to help guide me with the settings. It should be helpful to anyone that decides to switch over.

Posted by: chaptorrent

kaspersku is the only saviour just install it thn dnt worry it gonna take the charge

Posted by: hopes

On my win boxes I've always used Norton AV
During the last couple of months I gave a try to Avira (quite good the free edition) and McAfee Security Suite, which I have still to explore in all its features.
On my Linux box I don't use any AV:D

Posted by: shazzar

nod32 is probably the best, hardly uses any resources and works discretely in the background, that you forget you have it installed. How it should be

Posted by: hopes

nod32 is probably the best, hardly uses any resources and works discretely in the background, that you forget you have it installed. How it should be

I'll give it a try!

Posted by: mbfraser

Norton Antivirus. If NOD32 is probably the best out there, I'll take a look into it.

Posted by: leland

I use F-Secure, but see it nowhere on your poll. It uses multiple engines including Kaspersky; with hourly updates. No support for Vista yet though. Hopefully that will come with time.

Leland

Posted by: prima1

Kaspersky is the best no doubt about it
NOD32 detects new undiscovered viruses but how often do you get one of these
Kaspersky detects every other virus and is fast and light on system resources
