Which one out of all of them posted use the LEAST amount of resources though??

I am currently using AVG on my laptop, and to me hasn't been much of a resource hog. Is there one that is better?

Posted by: jamie

Avast!

Posted by: mayhemInc

NOD32, never had a problem with it :)

Posted by: AuReDo

Hi.....Just wondering.......What antivirus is the best , and which antivirus do you recommend/use?

Posted by: shijo

I was using lavasoft ad aware se with avg (less memory usage)
kaspersky is the best but you have to buy it they will find the pirated apps after sometime

but now I am not using any anti virus just using no-script (ff extension) and mcafee site adviser and adblock plus
if I feel my PC slow down I just roll back norton ghost image that is easy takes only 6 min to restore, much less than searching whole PC for virus, and no waste of bandwidth updating virus definitions

in my opinion there is no best antivirus .If u got a virus even if you find it and delete it something will remain in pc to slow it down like a change in registry
just avoid suspected sites it will save a lot of time

Posted by: phitzc

I use avast. works real good at detecting trojans. its free, works better than most pay anti-virus software. It doesn't hog memory resources.

Posted by: tiolewis

I dont use antivirus ... and my PC works fine.

If you take care of what you download there is no problem ...

Posted by: DyNast

NOD32

Trend Micro! Small, fast and doesn't take up much ram like mcafee and norton!

Posted by: ryan437

Kaspersky like the fact it only has 2 process for the whole program

Posted by: ZedZedZed

NOD32 as many others here. I have never had any problem with viruses since i begun use NOD32.

I am using other AV apps also but i dont think i need them when i got NOD32. Great and fast updates as well. It autoupdates about two times a day. Perfect AV solution!

Posted by: carpediemm

nod32 is simply the best:)

Posted by: error554

Nothing on my mac. Use Mcafee and Adaware on my VPC WinXP box. But usually it is turned off. Don't really care if it get's zapped :P I just roll back to a previous state and continue what I was doing.

Posted by: lolek1

For long time - kaspersky & kerio. Now only Outpost, no antivirus!

Posted by: helsing

I recommend you NOD32, its the fastest one available and it passed most tests as the most effective one. If you use it in cooperation with Ad-aware and Spybot: S&D you should be safe.

Posted by: txlonghorn

Its funny no one uses Norton.

Posted by: Not Complete

Norton is Symantec.

Posted by: p-h-x

I used AntiVir until a few days, I installed avast! but it was too clumsy for my taste, so I switched back to AntiVir.

Posted by: robert88

nod32 ftw

Posted by: ChelSea

Nod32 is good :D

Posted by: danio

i use nod32, but i hear kaspersky is good?

Posted by: Fearful

Posted by: melatonin

NOD32 2 Rule Them All !

Posted by: eyeb4ll

I used Kaspersky for a long time but I swiched it to NOD32.

Posted by: mera

I like NOD32, it doesn't much resources and its pretty effective!

Posted by: FiftyGame

I havn't used antivirus in about 3 years. Really havn't had a problem either.

Once in a while I may get spyware but nothing that really matters.

I found all anti virus programs to be very heavy on system resources.

Posted by: Tudor

i tested all of them but non .. tested POSITIVE for my PC ;) ===> i do not use a anti virus

Posted by: Magnum

I have been using KIS vers.6.0.2 and no problem!(Oldies by goodies):)

Posted by: x34

NOD32 Thats a easy question :P

Posted by: AverageJo

NOD32..fastest, lightest and with the best heuristic scanner and almost no false positives.

Posted by: godfather00

NOD32 is the best for me... + some good firewall... For example Kerio or Sygate... :D

Posted by: up4a_laugh

AVG free - it's the one i've found to work the best, so I'll carry on using it.

Posted by: AverageJo

NOD32 is the best for me... + some good firewall... For example Kerio or Sygate... :D

Go for Comodo, thats the best possible firewall available, and whadya know, its FREE :D

Posted by: the mighty

AVG is great, but I usually use a Mac. Mac's don't need antivirus software, right?

Posted by: chip19

On all the PCs I have, I use Avast Free Edition. It is free, and I've found that it does a better job than Norton and McAffe. Whenever I do spyware clean-up for people, I install Avast for them simply because I don't understand why people would pay for an anti-virus software when such a good free alternative exists.

On Mac, I don't use any anti-virus. No need, yet.

Posted by: Scavenger

Nod32, It's stable and light.

Posted by: alin18

nod 32

Posted by: trotest

KAV or NOD32 is always a good choice

Posted by: FalconAce

Before I started using NOD32, which was a long time ago, I used Norton. NOD32 is much better and it increased boot time by alot compared to Norton.

Posted by: rpeters1428

I used Kaspersky for a while (6 mnths) and then converted to NOD32 and love it so far. It is easy to use and is light on system resources which I like.

Posted by: deuce6000

NOD32 i have tried them all and nothing even comes close.I like AV to stay the fuck out of my way unless they are needed and this is the best for that.Pretty small resource usage and updates every day which is a must.

Before I started using NOD32, which was a long time ago, I used Norton. NOD32 is much better and it increased boot time by alot compared to Norton.

It increased your boot time???

Posted by: forix_r6

NOD 32, I like the new version a lot also....

Posted by: pr1nz3

nod32 rocks!

Posted by: gan.nez

fist i used antivir; that was about 5 years ago; then avast; then McAffee then kaspersky; and then i found my love; nod32, no viruses since then, no problems at all, and small resource usage;
however the new version, i think it's he 3.0, is not that good as the older one; uses too much resources and the layout is made for amateurs

Posted by: fstokebanget

I use no antivirus :P love my MBP, no virus, no spyware, no such programs installed so save a lot of system resources :)

Posted by: AverageJo

I use no antivirus :P love my MBP, no virus, no spyware, no such programs installed so save a lot of system resources :)

Posted by: aiurea

NOD32 rullz...it gives no chance to any kind of antivirus, malware and other intruders...with this antivirus you must be or very stupid or very unlucky to get an antivirus on your computer.

Posted by: division

Oh, I wouldn't need any of that...

Linux won't run any of my favorite games or apps.

Posted by: yakir132

only Mcafee1!!!

Posted by: Ronnie Coleman

NOD32. But not all the time. I install it every 2-3 months, fully update and do full system scan. Results are always good. Virus free. :)

At this stage of informations and good developed web browsers, with users self-consciousness, there are no reasons for OS infection. :)

Posted by: dfnstrtd

Kaspersky atm. But will be switching to NOD32. (:

McAfee antivirus best for me

Posted by: SAM

avg for me

Posted by: pr1nz3

nod32 rocks.....:D

Posted by: krunktastic

I quit using antivirus after I stopped visiting porn sites. The problem is, viruses don't get sent to Kaspersky and NOD32 right after they're made. They have to be discovered before they can be blocked, which means new viruses aren't affected by antivirus in the first place. I've always found av to be more trouble than it's worth.

Posted by: kooftspc11

i dont really like to use any but i have nod32 running

Posted by: YONITED

kaspersky

Posted by: yoco

I'm using Bitdefender Internet Security

I don't use an anti virus.

Posted by: technohive

I am currently using AVg because it doesnt lag up my pc and also it was easier to download and it is handly.

Posted by: Aeyen

You misspelled Kaspersky hehe. I use Kaspersky because it's really good, but too bad I got it legally, only as a demo, because it's so hard to find a torrent for Kaspersky, I've tried AVG before and also Norton.Avast was good too, but pretty strict, it wa sso hard to play online games w/ Avast around.McAfee did not clean my comp out of the viruses so I just switched to Kaspersky. Good luck everyone out there looking for an Anti Virus!

Posted by: Crutavv

NOD32 /3 years without problem/

They have to be discovered before they can be blocked, which means new viruses aren't affected by antivirus in the first place. I've always found av to be more trouble than it's worth.

Even the best antivirus is not perfect.Better to use a virtualization program like Sandboxie for high risk browsing. That being said I run Nod32 and KIS.Makes me feel better.

Posted by: syncsyncsync

NOD32, fast and lightweight, although Kapersky has some good features for laptops. Haven't tried the latest NOD32 yet tho
