I'm really new and all of these programs confuse me somewhat. What is the best program you can recommend me?

Thanks in advance for the replies and answers.

Well, that kinda depends on what you're looking for. Perhaps if you're a little more specific we can help you more.
As for a general starting guide, I'd say a good program to start with is Ares (http://www.aresgalaxy.org). Very fast and easy to set up. The edonkey network has good selection and is also an excellent place to start. I recommend emuleplus (http://emuleplus.info) for that. The bittorrent network gets excellent speeds but is a little more complicated. I'd say the easiest clients to start with there would be the original bittorrent client (http://www.bittorrent.com) or bitTornado (http://www.bittornado.com) which is based off the original.

as a noob, you may just want to stick with typical P2P programs as they can be real simple to use.

there are a lot to choose from though.

this site has download links to the programs that are available, reviews, and guides...

never pay for P2P software!

If you're looking for music, I highly recommend Soulseek (http://www.slsknet.org/)
