Which HD is the best deal?

I need to add another HD (200GB+) to make room for more media etc. I've browsed around and found these....btw, i need a SATA, no more IDE slots. (I have a Dell 8400)
I dont know a ton about HD, but this seems to be the fastests SATA for a reasonable price.

Im not sure if there is much of a difference between this and the first one.

Which one of these is the better quality HD, since they are both 250GB, and within a few dollars of eachother.

NVRMIND... these aren't SATA... but if anyone's looking for a good deal on IDE harddrives....
found these rebates as well....
Id be willing to pay more for a better quality hd... but these seem awful cheap with the rebates. 50c/GB for the outpost one.

Those 2 are IDE. Not SATA.
I recommend this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148065

... why do you suggest the seagate over the western digital and hitachi?
I find them to be the best in terms of reliability and they run very quiet.

seagate also gives you a 5 year warranty, against normal 3 years.........
also says something about their confidence in their product......... or the fact that they know you wont be using it in 3 years anymore anyway :P

i got a nice maxtor 300gb with 16mb cache for my xbox of ebay for £80 new.
seagate are meant to be alot quieter though, and longer warranty
but i would hardly say my maxtor is loud.

I'm confused, the first 2 you listed are both SATA (in fact the Hitachi is SATA II).
I agree with VB though, the Seagate seems to be quietest at the moment, and have longest warranty.
Which brings me to another point, why are Newegg offering extended warranty which expires before the standard warranty? And if you read their T&C doesn't cover upgrade parts, which is probably most of newegg's business.

Neweggs got a 250GB SATA150 seagate for 120$ I think, looks like a good deal.

The best deal right now is a 300gig drive I think.
And I'd be going with a seagate like most of the others in here. Seagates are quiet, dependable, good value for your money, and they come with good warranty as well.

No.
If you calculate the price per GB then the 250 GB drive is a better deal than the 300 GB.
$123 - 250 GB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148065
$167 - 300 GB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148064
The 250 GB drive is .49¢ per GB
The 300 GB drive is .56¢ per GB

I was lookin at a local site :snooty:
But that's just for local people, nothing for us there. :(

Unless you decide to emigrate.
Bet you didn't think of that :snooty:

I was lookin at a local site :snooty:
What are the prices there?
I bet the 250 GB is still a better deal there. ;)

this is it (http://www.webhallen.com/list.php?avd=3&konsol=13&genre=53&chr=&sort=0&start=20)
And yeah, you were right.
Must have mixed them up :blushing:
those extra fifty gigs aren't too expensive though, and I'm sure they'd come in handy at some point, so it wouldn't be a total waste of money
