My brother is making a new system. Hes getting dual-core Athlon 64 4200.
I wanted some info on motherboard that support dual-core 64's. Google hasnt told me much. He was thinking about getting SLI as well.
I found this on newegg. Says it supports 64 x2.

That FATAL1TY SLI was the mobo I was planning to get but since there outta stock AGAIN, and I dont really feel like waiting for the shit I might just get another. Thats the only mobo Ive seen on newegg that supports the X2 cores.

All the ABit Socket939 mobo's will support the x2 chips, but may need a bios update. This is probably also true for all the other major Socket939 suppliers, simply because the memory controller is built in to the chip.

This (http://techreport.com/reviews/2005q2/athlon64-fx57/index.x?pg=1) is something you may find interesting. I was just looking at it, and they test single core 64s, Fx-processors, dual cores, and P4s.
I think the dual cores seem like a nice buy, myself, but I don't think we'll see what they really can do for a bit, and they do cost some.

Wow..the dual core looks really good!

My local supplier started shipping the X2 4800+ this week. Now if someone could just drop £750 on me... :w00t:

The single core Intels seem to do better then the dual core Intels in a lot of test...wierd..
AMD dual cores look amazing!

Yup.
The last BIOS releases for my DFI board have all included dual-core support.
Gigabyte seems slow to release BIOS updates, but they'll get with the program, too.
You guys (you know who you are....) have got to stop with this ABIT Fatality shit...the board is junk.
If you want performance get the DFI LP, if you want stability and a good feature set get the Gigabyte.
Make sure you get the NF4 chipset.
Neither board comes with blingLEDs, but you'll get over it.
