What's the latest version that is released? I heard for many friends that emule is a good p2p program, so I'm giving it a shot. :)

You have two options here.

Either you can trty the official emule release or emul plus release.
both versions work onm the sam principle ,the difference is in their look and some exra features in emula plus.
I hope u will find their links in the sticky posts.at the moment my mind is empty.

You could try Emule Mods, which are "special versions" which some extra options.
An example would be Sivka...

I use emuleplus occasionally when I'm not on Bittorrent. I like it alot.

Also be sure to update your server list fairly often to keep it up to date with the best servers. server list (http://ed2k.2x4u.de/index.html).
