FA to bid for World Cup 2018

Crikey. I'll be 40 by the time this World Cup comes round (our best chance of winning it in my lifetime perhaps...), Peerzy will be 20 by then.:blink:


The Football Association have confirmed that they are likely to bid for the right to stage the 2018 World Cup finals.

England last staged the competition in 1966 - when they won the cup for the only time, and they successfully hosted Euro 96.

They failed in their bid to land the finals in 2006, but they are now ready to bid with using the new Wembley stadium as their trump card.

The signs are good for England, as Fifa have already ruled out co-hosting meaning possible Nordic and Gaelic bids will be none starters.

Buoyed by London winning the 2012 Olympics, chief executive Brian Barwick admitted that a bid is likely.

"The next one to come to Europe is 2018. So why wouldn't we go for it?" he said.

Germany have it 2006, South Africa 2010. I think that it is going to South America in 2014, it hasn't been there since 1978. I think, maybe, the Yanks will get a stab at it in 2022.

You just might see two Scottish Canadian boys on the Canadian team at South Africa 2010 ,mine with a last name Mckenzie watch for them. None of this born in Canada plays for England shit . Hey I can dream can't I ? :)
