PPLIVE

Getting the Video

Download PPLive: http://www5.pplive.com/PPLiveSetup.exe

Then on match days go to: http://www.asiaplate.com/live.today.htm

It's like a program list, find the match you want and next to it look for a http://www.asiaplate.com/photo/media.logo.pplive.gif then 5 minutes before the match starts click the red chinese text next to the http://www.asiaplate.com/photo/media.logo.pplive.gif and the match name.

Streams with the http://www.asiaplate.com/photo/icon.arrow2.gif next to them a are the best, but others still work fine. A red X means the link is dead.

PPLive will auto open and a chinese pop up will appear in your system tray, ignore that and within 2-3 minutes WMP will open and it will take another 2-3 minutes to buffer and it will start playing.

English Audio

Turn down the audio on your match (in WMP) then go to the bbc football website (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/default.stm) and 90% of the time you will see :

http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/8755/dunnololol9gv.jpg

Now click the linked bit that i highlighted in the picture (The BBC Five Live radio thing) and that will load english commentary.

Usually the BBC Five Live commentary is about 30 second or so ahead of your video (because the video has had to buffer) so what i usually do is wait for the BBC guy to say something that i can remember (Rooney takes a shot and it goes behind for a goal kick.

Then i push the stop button on the BBC radio thing. Go to my WMP with the video and wait untill i see Rooney take a shot and it go behind and then quickly push start again on my BBC radio thing, it'll take 2-3 seconds to buffer up a again and the sound and picture will be in time.

Do the following the change PPLive into English;

-Open PPLive.
- Right click on the icon that appears on your task tray.
- Click on the option highlighted on the image below.
http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/2926/pplive1ik.gif

Coolstreaming

Download Coolstreaming: ftp://202.108.25.8/coolstreaming0.45.exe

Then on match days go to: http://www.asiaplate.com/live.today.htm

Like you do with PPLive find the match you want and look for the small http://www.asiaplate.com/photo/media.logo.coolstreaming.gif. Next to that image it will have a channel name, usually ESPN. It's not a clickable link so you have to open up Coolstreaming, wait a few minutes and all the channels will appear.

Streams with the http://www.asiaplate.com/photo/icon.arrow2.gif next to them a are the best, but others still work fine. A red X means the link is dead.

http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/6656/coolstre7rr.jpg

They more people (users) the better speed you'll get and the better quality and smoothness you'll get. This is because Coolstreaming is built arround Bittorent. Also to help get the best quality get a program like NetLimiter and make sure you cap the upload of Coolstreaming at half your full upload, otherwise you'll get smoothness issues sometimes.

The Bitrate is the quality of the picture, the higher it is the higher the quality and bigger the picture, the downside to this is that more data needs to be downloaded every second so you'll need a faster connection. 1MB down 256K upload should be enough for the largest bitrate size, but again it depends on how many users there are to upload the data to you.

Anyway, you know your match is going to be on ESPN at 4PM say, load up Coolstreaming 15 minutes before the match starts, this is so you can give it time to buffer and get playing the video and audio at a very smooth rate.

To load ESPN you just double click on the words ESPN within Coolstreaming. Give it 2-3 minutes and WMP will open and start buffering. You will need to latest WMP (Currently 10), it's free from Microsoft's website.

When you're finished close WMP and always remember to close the Coolstreaming icon in your system tray, because just closing WMP will not stop the stream and thus you'll still be uploading and downloading.

You can use the same method as you would use for PPLive to get English audio although i've found that quite a lot of Coolstreaming ESPN matches are already in English.

Links will be updated and posted HERE (http://www.filesharingtalk.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=100889).

Main reason i find it helpful is because you have to pay £50+ a month to watch football in the UK now with Sky. BBC only has a highlights program late at night. So unless you pay you can't see any matches (par a few rare CL matches)

So far it's only shown Football and a tad bit of golf for me, but thats because i only turn it on at match times. I've seen adverts for baseball, rugby and other sports tho, so if you tune in at match times it might show something.

They're (ESPN) going to show/are showing the Tri-Nations.

I'm not exactly sure of when but I presume that's what it was as during my soccer marathon this afternoon, I saw a few trailers with Tana Umaga, George Gregan, Percy Montgomerie and various others scoring tries.

Someone gave me this link to watch QPR V Shef Wed(Sky Sports game) online;

mms://213.8.106.59/1042444

After a little digging I found it was supplied by this site;

http://www.livesports.co.il/

I can't understand the language so was wondering if one of you guys could work out how to use this site.

Skillian

Only just seen this thread, watching Man U vs Man City right now. Great stuff, thanks :)

I can't get the radio 5 commentary synched with the video though. I press stop on the commentary, then play again at an appropriate time, but the commentary just rebuffers and starts playing live again. I can't seem to force that 30ish sec delay.

Any tips?

Peerzy
09-10-2005, 03:41 PM
Yeah it doesn't work anymore, it use to buffer and continue from where you had stopped it but it doesn't anymore.

Asiaplate's pretty screwed now - there doesn't seem to be any links for Premiership games.

Anyone know of a good alternative?Something to do with the English FA hunting down and eating any forums that post PPL links to EPL games :dabs:

If you get a few of the programs (Sopcast, PPStream and PPLive) and open one of them just after a Premier League game kicks off, just choose the channel with the most viewers and it's usually the match you're after.

Sometimes it won't work, but if you have a few other proggies as a back up - one of them usually comes up trumps.

Skillian
12-12-2005, 06:14 PM
Yeah, I've found a couple of sites that sometimes list what channels the game can be seen on (asiaplate does if you register), but it can be hard work selecting the right channel from the program sometimes.

I like to watch Spurs matches, so on a Saturday afternoon the most viewers thing doesn't really work :(

manker
12-12-2005, 06:26 PM
You could try supporting a more widely followed team; Charlton, for example.

:schnauz:

Skillian
12-12-2005, 10:08 PM
OK, I got to see Spurs tonight - 3-1, woot.

Like you say, you need a wide selection of programs to able to watch all the games you'd like nowadays. I used TVants tonight.

Very very useful link (http://forum.freefootball.org/viewtopic.php?t=17) if you're trying to watch Premiership footie for free - lots of links and useful info.

By the way, you can still use 5 Live radio to get English commentary as long as you use RealPlayer - this is detailed in the link above also.

BBC let you watch games online for free on there website, UK only however. I hope to be able to get some videos of goals and highlights, but i'm not promising anything and it may not be all games (Japan V Croatia is hardly screaming out to have a 20 minute highlight video).

Asiaplate is different now, the post to which you're referring was made quite some time ago. I guess the powers that be have caught up with them and they altered their site :dabs:

Download the streaming software and install it from the links on the Asiaplate site. Then look at this link (http://phpbb88.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2&sid=55597d0345d516431f1ed1094fb0222e&mforum=otherark) to see what channel the football you want to watch is on and use the program it advises to view the game.

That's what I do.

TVKoo (http://www.tvkoo.com/en/download.htm) is another live TV streaming app, very very simple to setup (no real install required, just run the exe) but it's not as configurable as other apps. Nice clean interface though, and the list of channel names is mostly in English.

You may want to take a look at this link

http://www.socceraudio.com/inglaterra.htm

As for Live TV stream I use http://www.live-footy.org/

This is a good site where you do not need to register to access the TV streams but they do have forums where you will need to register. They also indicate English (EN) streams (not always 100% accurate). Strangely on some streams you get a nice English commentry and then some Cantonese over the top kinda weird. As the site is free it does appear to have some downtime on occassions so it is wise not not have all eggs in one basket.

It has also been suggested to get audio for UK only go to Radio five live stream in real player but pause the stream until the TV catches up with the audio. This no longer works for me I think the BBC have cottoned on to folks who delay the live audio in RP. The TV is not quite live it is usually 2-3 mins behind the actual action. So if you hear your neighbour shouting goal you know something is about to happen.

Guys , i want to watch the liverpool match today and im using ppstream for the first time . Ive got a picture , but it wont stream !!! Everything looks ok , so i cant figure out why it wont stream . Its like a paused picture. Any ideas ???

Being a UTD fan not sure I should help lol. Not really sure why you are having these issues. I would suggest turning Bit torrent off while you use this p2p TV software. In the above links there is advice to users of XP service pack 2 which is well known for shafting us p2p users. I would also say patience is required sometimes to access the streams. It does on occasions take 5 mins to get the stream going and even then you may get screen freezes. The longer you are on the better the quality of the stream usually.

BTW good luck at the Emirates next week. You could help us by keeping our rivals off our backs :-)

go to www.football4less.com (http://www.football4less.com)

On there you'll find schedules for the up coming week. It will also tell you where you can watch it live for free (e.g. TVants, Sopcast)

Next, you need to donwload the software for that (TVants, Sopcast). Then, when its downloaded, run this and search for the channel.
