I think Arsenal will win. I know they are away and have lost some players, but I still think they'll edge it.

I don't think all the recent talk has unsettled Chelski but I think that they are a bit arrogant and probably won't play with the intensity that I expect Arsenal to play with.

I wonder if Henry will have a good game against a good side for the first time in 3 seasons, if so Arsenal definitely have the advantage.

Drogba rocks :01:

He accidentally knee'd it in from 2 yards out, beat the keeper and nearly KO' himself on the post

Noice site. Thanks for the links, Peerzy.

Is it just me or were Arsenal shite yesterday?

Chelsea definitely deserved the win. Well done, chaps.

Del Horno kept both Pires, Van Persi & Ljunberg in order all game, he played amazing, none of them got a decent cross in or get past Del Horno.

Arsenal played there usual pressing passing game, but Mackelele or Essien would just come in, make a tackle and send a long ball for SWP/Robben/Duff.

Van Persi should have been sent off, and so should Ashley Cole, Van Persi lost the ball to Duff and them kick as hard as he could at Duff's legs. Ashley Cole did a sliding tackle from behind in like the last 10 minutes on SWP then kicked him while he was down.

Chelsea were the far better team and Arsenal didn't have a shot on goal untill like the 70th minute when Henry shot from 30 yards and Cech caught it.

Chelsea > Arsenal

Van Persi should have been sent off, and so should Ashley Cole

Cole should have been given a penalty when he was fouled by Mackelele. Also wasnt Drogba's goal offside. :ermm:

Chelsea are good but have to agree with this excerpt from the BBC site:

Last season's top two served up a game of such miserable fare, I was reminded of my only experience of nouvelle cuisine. Bloody expensive and nothing to get your teeth into.

In the reigns of Vialli and Gullit, with Ken Bates clad in that coat of many animals, there was still something faintly glamorous about Chelsea. All right, they were never going to win more than the odd Cup, but they gave value for money.

Nowadays, it's like watching an army side from behind the old iron curtain.

It's this what Roman expected from his billions? A dour, drab, ditchwater side led by either the dire Drogba or the comatose Crespo?

If you own a season ticket, skip it when the Blue Russians come a-calling. You must have a fence that needs creosoting. I watched both and Man Utd's 1-0 > Chelsea's 1-0 on almost every level.

I think Romans money is becoming a bit of a myth, people say they don't like Chelsea because they can buy whoever they want, it's, far from that. Same with people who say Roman will just go out and buy whoever he wants. Roman has nothing to do with our transfer dealings. It's just his money, JM eyes up transfer targets and he attempts to sign them. Roman has little to do with it.

It's quite clear that Roman however likes the club and wants it to be sucessfull. JM makes a 5 page leaflet on every team they play with fact, things to watch out for and such and he gives it to his players 1 hour before the match, he says he helps the players work out the weaknesses themselfs and together before the match. Roman has requested that he gets one as well. He's been at evey match and overall has been a good chairman.

Sure people arn't going to like us, but thats because we are now contenders to win things. Back 5-6 years ago (when i started supporting Chelsea) we were like another Liverpool, never gonna win anything big, and when we did with the Euro cup everyone was pleased for us, now because we are the best everyone wants to beat us.

If Roman and JM had gone out this summer and brought 6,7 or even 8 new players then i can understand where people are comming from, but when people say we can buy anyone it's stupid, we might be able to, but we don't. We could buy Ronaldinho and replace Lampard with him, we could buy Lucio or some other great Defender and replaced John Terry, but we don't because we know these players are very important to the squad. John Terry is our highest paid player and then Lampard and then Crespo. Terry is on £90K, Lamps and Crespo are both £80K. Liverpool, Manchester Utd & Arsenal all have players on higher pay schemes.

SWP may not be worth £24M right now, but was Ferdinand worth £30M 3 years ago? Was Henry worth £14M when Arsenal brought him, at the time he was a left winger who couldn't get into a below par Juventus team, and if it wasn't for Wenger he wouldn't have made it into the Arsenal team.

Same with Essien, in years to come he'll be worth more than what we paid for him. He's only 22, SWP is 23 and Del Horno is 24 and a great buy as well.

People wondered why we brought Cech for £7M when he was quite unknown and had only really played big games at Euro 2004, and we already had Carlo C who is a great keeper, but Cech must be worth double that £7M already.

People are going anti-Chelsea now just because it's in the in thing to do, they make up excuses which to be honest, mean fuck all.

I don't hate Arsenal, Manchester Utd, Liverpool or any other team, i enjoy watching all of them because they all have great players. It's the stupid fans who seem to want to do anything to attack and piss of Chelsea fans just because we are winning stuff now.

If there were more Manchester Utd fans like Manker who i can have a decent chat with about football, then the sport would be far better.

I have to be honest. I do hate Liverpool.

It's an irrational, silly hatred. One born of frustration and jealousy that I should have left behind 10 years ago - because they've been shite and we've been good. However, I cannot.

With Chelsea, I don't like them because of the manager. There is also an element of jealousy because of the money but tbh Man Utd can attract, and afford, similar players. It's just that it's no bottomless pit.

I didn't like Mourinho to start with - when Porto put us out of the CL, he ran up and down the OT touchline like a knob waving his arms to the United fans. The arse. Since then my personal dislike of the bloke has been built up thro' his comments and actions. Truly believing himself to be some sort of managerial god.

He is a very good manager, clearly, but he is an ultra-defensive manager. Prefering to shape his team around not conceeding rather than scoring. Which is fine if silverware is your prime concern - which it is for him - but not as a fan when it's the game of football you love. For example, Man Utd would not consider him a valid candidate to be their manager, neither would Spurs or West Ham.

Mourinho could have chosen to build a team with Roman's millions to play thrilling, exciting football, instead he's built a dour, steadfast team which surpresses the footballing abilites of not only the opposition, but also his players. Which I think is bad for the game.

He's been particularly successful at doing this ... I just wish he'd took the other option.

Chelsea are in for the "Jammy Bar Stewards of the year" competition.

97th minute winner in t'opening week, then mis-controlling the ball into the net.

I s'pose it's only fair as they have nowt else going for them.

Not to mention their winning goal was offside
Seems his bad karma caught up with him in last seasons CL. They beat Barcelona with a goal that was scored by Terry into an open goal as Ricardo Carvalho held back the Barca goalie. But they couldnt quite beat Liverpool

I tend not to get too worked up by refereeing errors tho' as these tend to even themselves out over the course of a season. As you go on to demonstrate.

In that Porto game, tho', I definitely remember us being absolute rubbish. We took the game too lightly and paid the price :pinch:

TBH i didn't watch Porto last season, ofcourse i saw the CLF but not any of there other matches.

I like Mourinho, but for the same reasons you hate him. I think he a funny guy, he's so full of himself. After we lost to Liverpool in the CL an interviewer asked had the best team won and he said no, the best team had lost. Obviously he's a great coach as well but i think he fills the players with confidence. When we beat Liverpool in the Worthless Cup final he went and shock every Liverpool's players hand except Gerrard who he left to the end and he said to him: You first goal for Chelsea was a good one  and that was at a time when Gerrard to Chelsea rumors were all over the place.

No other manager would do that. It's just depends on what side of the bush you are, i can see Liverpool fans hating him for those comments i've mentioned but i just think they add character and comedy.
