i'm currently going to be getting a digital camera and i was wondering if the speed of the card matters or is it the camera that determines the speed of transfers tot he card?

It will work alot faster then a standard. Id recommend a Sandisk Ultra II.

The speed at which a digital camera takes multiple pictures is more reliant upon the circuitry design(i.e. "shutter speed").

A little research of reviews should yield the answers you're looking for [if that's what you're talking about].

But, download speeds of pictures to your computer do vary depending on the brand/type of memory card used as well as the connection type used(i.e. USB, Firewire, etc.)
