ripping problem

I am trying to rip a DVD I own. It is a high school play, created locally by a studio, and the DVD has no copy protection. I have tried DVD Shrink, DVD DeCrypter, Nero, and Clone DVD. Each time I try to rip it using these progs my Computer hangs. I am at a loss to figure this out. It seems to have some circular reference problem. Anyone ever encounter something like this?

Try ripping a dvd that has copy protection. (oh, i dunno any hollywood made movie) Do you get the same results? Try a different movie. Not working again?

Now maybe i'm thinking it could be a hardware issue with your dvd burner.
