I looking for help installing lame. I've dl several times, various sources - official and verified. Either I keeping missing file or I can't read. Readme refers to install instuctions but can't find em. Running WinME.
When I try to open the prog I briefly see a new window and then it closes, all in about 2-3 sec's.
I'm going nutty trying to get this working. Any lame comments welcome. lol
Cheers, omc

Hi oldmancan:
LAME isn't really a standalone program. It works if you use it like this:
bring up a DOS window (Start, run, cmd)
Go to the directory where you have LAME
Type LAME --alt-preset standard file.wav file.mp3
(where file is, replace it with your real filename)
Sorry, my instructions aren't very good
However, http://www.mp3dev.org/mp3/doc/html/examples.html
is an excellent resource on LAME command lines.
Or, take a look at this, also excellent:

HTH

dMC Music Converter is a very good freeware music converter which uses Lame.
Get it here (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm).

;) And the lamest is...calctext98, for telling me to read better. The answer I was looking for was in the thread I was trying to follow (making high quality mp3's). What I had missed was to put lame into the EAC folder. Then in EAC menu>compression options>external compression>lame.exe.
Easy to follow instructions... I just shouldn't try when too tired.
Hope this helps someone.
Cheers, omc
