dunno. you could go to tools and apply to all folders but that would ruin the rest of your shit

Robs, just do it to the folder you're in :)

You don't have to do them all.

*shrugs* works fine for me, I just tested 5 folders each setting them on different views then closed it all and rechecked and they stayed where I set them. the quick link box on the tool bar does'nt set the view permenantly, you have to set it thru "View" on the top toolbar.

100%s messed it up for him. for some reason your idea doesn't work. maybe you have to make the folder ain't read only

So reverse 100%'s directions and try mine.

Then post what it's doing, working or not.

Folders should all be set to "Read only" , I realise thats what you said but I don't think making them hidden will help lol

"Windows has a limit of 400 folder view settings. Why? Yeah.
Probably the same thinking that inspired Bill Gates to announce that computer users will never need more than 16 kb of RAM.

Change it to 8000 with this tweak

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU]
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell]
"BagMRU Size"=dword:00001f40

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam]
"BagMRU Size"=dword:00001f40

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000

So what view do you want as standard for all your folders?

I know you want thumbs for your music but I mean all of them.

Ok, you may have done this but....... open a folder, any folder, click (top toolbar) view. Check details.
Then follow what 100% said
tools
folder options
view
apply to all folders

That will set all folders on your puter to details.

Close all

Then goto your music folder, top tool bar,
view
check Thumbnails

close all.

Then check.

I have no idea if you tried this yet or not as you did'nt say.

Remembering Folder Settings

Added 12/21/02

If XP does not remember your folder settings, delete or rename the following registry keys

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags]

Source (http://66.249.93.104/search?q=cache:pPXUJTT_iWEJ:www.onecomputerguy.com/windowsxp_tips.htm+xp+change+folder+icon+but+does+not+remember&hl=en)

Try that, I'd try a rename first, or at least back up the files before you delete.
