Okay, I have been and AMD fan for some time, and definately will be waiting for the Hammer before I consider all options on a new pc... but heres the scoop..

the new p4's, with 800mhz front side bus, and the new canterwood motherboards blow the competition away.. of course, once these hit, (as its not a paper launch), should be any day, they will not come cheap. However, if you want the best... this is it..

I am suprised that it is not a ghz processor. 800mhz is slow compared to the rest, is it not?

dude he's talkin about 800mhz Bus Speed. That's major. (normally we got like from 150-300 or so)
not the proccessor speed. Even though if u are talkin about an 800mhz proccessor with 800mhz bus speed..that'd probably be faster than a 2.0ghz with 200mhz bus speed.

Sweet, I don't know much about the bus speed, but had a feeling you weren't talking about the processor speed, it sounded low. Man, I'd love to have that setup.

it's sweet but intel have done their usual trick and found "A small anomaly observed in validation testing on a small number of chips" and have stopped shipping them - the story is HERE (http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/3/30247.html)

With a system like that, who the hell would buy XBOX or anything like that?

oh u definately wont, and I totally agree with you. when it comes to engineering, amd definately tops chipzilla.

I own a athlon myself right now. I just know, that by the end of this year, I am looking at a new system, building one later this year, so i keep up on whats the fastest. If i built a system today, that would be my next hardware... but the hammer is enticing, so i will see how things shake down in quarter 3 and 4
