I neard they voted, shortly after getting Independance, on the official languge of the USA.

I think it was very close between English and German.

I think German Americans (myself being one) are so numerous because Germany sucked for years and a lot of the smart people fled in the late 19th early 20th centuries?

All I know is my German American Grandpa was a hard worker but not a pleasant or cordial man, very quiet and proper. Work. WORK!

my dad was talking about this last week, he said that USA's official language was going to be German at one point. Imagine how the world would be if Americans spoke German, rapping in German? German NBA? Canadians would have to learn German also, too keep up with America.

Maybe it's because daddy was American, and mammy was American, and their father, grandpappy, was American. :shifty:
