I assume Calzaghe's hand will heal in good time, and Jeff Lacy will manage not to lose in the unanticipated interim before they can fight.

Choose the winner?

I pick Lacy.

I'm not so sure the hand will heal "in good time". Even if it could, would he be able to train / spar properly.

When they do fight my money is on Joe.

That from both my heart and head.

I know, just being me ;)

You do know that your sig should start "We're ..." don't you. It's a contraction thang. It doesn't really make sense just now.

I haven't read anything since - well, I have, just not about this subject¹ - but straight after Calzaghe's last fight he said that the Lacy fight would have to be postponed til February.

Lacy's manager was most upset, making noises about how Calzaghe had disrepected him by breaking his hand² and that now the fight, if it went ahead at all, would have to be in America.

It seems the matter is very much up in the air at the minute.

¹ - For JP.
² - Wtf.

I'm not so sure the hand will heal "in good time".

By that I meant only that it would heal before we forget their names; i.e., definitely not November, probably not February, but before they are old and doddering.

But then you knew that, didn't you... ;)

A March date has been set. I am unsure why it's in a neutral country, but at least it's been sorted.

Calzaghe, ftw :01:

Need to find an interweb feed, coz it's bound to be PPV on cable.

I wanted to see Lacy fight Tarver. The "I broke my hand" excuse by Joe was shameful.

Btw, does anyone know when Hopkins/Taylor is supposed to happen?

And what about Hatton coming to fight over here more? That muhfucka's got some energy!!!!

Thanks, JP.:)

I want to see Hatton whip Zab Zhuda's ass.

Better yet....FIGHT FLOYD MAYWEATHER!!!!:w00t:

Kostya Tzu wasn't a very good fight but at least it got Hatton the belt.

If anyone has a stream for the Hatton fight that would be good, coz it's PPV over here.

I think it's at 02:00 UK, to suit the US market. Bit annoying, but it makes a lot of sense from a financial point of view. Both in audience and in raising Hatton's profile for the future (hopefully), to command the big purses.

Agreed, Floyd Mayweather would be the fight. That would be a really tough one to call, however it would be the money maker so is a distinct possibility. If Hatton can unify these 2 belts, obviously.

Going over a friends to see it.

So it's Taylor, then.

As to Lacy/Calzaghe, I was a bit disturbed that Lacy didn't mind getting hit in his last fight.

Calzaghe might change Lacy's thinking on that point.

I still think Lacy will win, though, and for the same reason that Taylor prevailed over Hopkins (one of my favorites fighters ever): AGE.

It is well that Hopkins wasn't too far down the road to make a fight of it.

In any case, it should be a great fight.

I think at some point soon we will see Taylor move up also; there are too many great fights (and money) to be made at the weight.

Yeah Taylor won last night.:(

Hopkins did a worse job than the 1st fight (which I think he was robbed of his belt).

Hopkins must not have got it through his skull that this was a rematch and that he should have done something differently.

Irregardless to his age, I still don't think he should retire. He beat knocked De La Hoya out with a disturbingly painful body shot, knocked out Felix Trinidad, and was over 30 yrs old.

He ain't done....hopefully.
