It's a great site but the 2 times I tried to log on to their IRC network when the site was down before, I was unsuccessful because the channel used a passkey.

Then after the site came back up, I looked for the passkey everywhere on the site and forums, and couldn't find it.

I didn't bookmark or write down the IRC channel and server anywhere. Anyone know what it is?

As has been mentioned before we're having problems with our DNS provider, until things are sorted you can use the server IP, or add it to your hosts file.

I'm sure by now they have a guide up on their homepage on how to do this however :blink:

Most of these trackers are spending a hundred or so bucks a month on their host servers. We are not talking Google infrastructure here.

A simple TiT is down / TiT is back up. Or (is ***down? / yes it was, but it’s back up) is really enough.

Soapbox time:

Do you really like a specific tracker? Well give a buck or two or ten if you got it. If you don't, don't, but don't bitch. Most of these things are run by really cool people who are not out to make money and would put any donation into better service/equipment. (just to clarify, I'm not talking about mininova or torrentspy etc..).

This thread has 540 views at the time I'm posting this. Is everybody just waiting for the something like lokitorrents or the taking down of elitetorrents to happen? :fear:

I had exactly the same prob last week, I had to use the recover password thingy. A few weeks ago everything at Torrentit went completely tits up and my whole account was wiped. Fortunately I work with a couple of other torrentit members so I got another invite from one of them. Does anybody know how you contact one of the admin if you're unable to login to the site?

its ok to set your limit like that, the key is to keep the torrent open until after you have seeded back to atleast a 1:1 ratio. Hell, my bandwidth is 5mb down, 376K up, so in cases like a DVD, I'm seeding for days after I'm done uploading.

If you have a connection already up I do not believe you need the tracker to keep it going but if you stop astalvista. If they had been raided it would have been in the news by now. I think they are based in Holland.

They are a stroppy lot so don't expect any respect from them or even some news.

It sucks :w00t: but that is what I have to do as well - no joke seen one seen em all and real ones are best.

A good strategy is to keep away from big files and pick torrents with a lot of leechers and very few seeds - this means you have to download crap you do not want to keep your S/R up. Also TV shows are very good for ratio building and some of them are pretty good to watch.

The problem is everyone has to seed but of course not everybody can - most tracker admins understand this and it is easy to maintain .5 - torrentit give you the arse below .75. Some trackers like Araditracker give you 1Gig credit for every £1 donated - bitme.org do as well.

If you use several trackers it can be fun getting a good s/r :angry: :frusty:

Connected sessions will keep working but if you stop them while the tracker is down they will not restart. If the tracker is down it cannot collect your stats but keep seeding anyway.

It is a pain that the site is down after 2 days off last week with DNS probs - it is still the fastest and best private tracker around.:D
