It has been reported by the BBC that the Ask website will be dropping their leading character, Jeeves. The decision comes after a user survey found that the iconic butler caused confusion (as to what he represented) among visitors to the Ask website, which is ranked 1970 in Netcraft ratings.

The Ask website was bought in May 2005 by Inter-Active Corp, headed by Barry Diller. The announcement to drop Jeeves was made at a Goldman Sachs investor conference. At this time it is unknown what the Ask site will be renamed to.

Ask Jeeves used to be a great search tool until it returned mostly sponsored links. That's when I changed to Google.
