Read the manual.

The manual doesn't register charging via USB, whereas on articles on the net it says you can (although with no directions on how).

So does anyone know how or what settings I need to edit to charge my iAudio X5 via USB..?

Thanks

I have never seen one of these devices irl but I just downloaded the manual and read it. It does say how the USB charging is done.

Ummmm, well, could you please post here what it says about USB charging? As my manual doesn't...

This is getting tedious. The online manual is just as available to you as it is for me.

Look for it and read it.

Yup just did.

It says to turn the power off while connected via USB.

I tried to turn it off, it won't. All I can do is push the power lever up and sort of get it to stand-by, not power OFF.....

OK, my bad, the setting was wrong. I have managed to set it to charge via USB.

This topic may be locked, as issued problem has been solved :)

lol

looks like it's almost exactly the same as the iriver h320. how's the size? does it feel bulky? does it have fade in?

but it has 35 hour continuous play doesn't it?

ya has all that..

one major problem though - when i try to transfer music, it almost always tells me "the path is too deep"..WTF?!

I mean, ive tried to put music in from d:/my shared folder/nameofalbum ok, fine didnt work. then i moved the album to just D:/
still doesn't work..

i mean, how the hell am i supposed to transfer music if the "path is too deep", when its in the root of the hard drive!?!?!?!??!?!!

Maybe it means the file name is too long?

tralalala

Can't be. I've tried to change file names and put them in a different location on the computer so that path will not be so deep (D:\ for instance), but it still does that...

@Duffman: Yeah the machine really is great, and is definately worth the money I think.

Jeez people, gees a break!! The X5 is an awesome player, period.

Now, VB, are you sort of in here to try piss people off?? If you don't have a useful thing to say (I'm talking about the replies after the issue with the manual), then why reply!? Give it a rest man, you did good with the manual issue, and if you don't have something good to say about the following problem, best is not to say anything at all.

Ok but does the awesome player actually play anything?

What do you think??

I was doing a backup of my music anyway, so I used the disc on my dad's laptop to transfer the music.
Although that procedure works, it is still pretty annoying not being able to trandfer music directly from my PC to the player.

Well... How was I to know? You didn't say that.

Could it be that you have some "protection" on your PC that your dad doesn't have? A firewall or something similar perhaps?

Trust me, I have tried most methods to get this stupid path error to stop. I have even disabled all protection utilities and tried it on safe mode... no difference, and I can see you are probably enjoying this as well....

Yeah well, if you can't help and all you can do is reply a non-helpful reply that has nothing to do with the topic or question - that's the sort of answer I would expect to find in the Lounge - that's what it's for.

Im sure you're not going to get a reply now, just because you were arse-y and demanded members to answer you i doubt you'll get an answer. They don't work for you remember, you don't pay them. When the members are on your pay-roll then you can have a go at them when they don't answer you, untill then, please be a dear, and go fuck yourself.

Oh, that's nice...

FIRST OFF - when a member comes, especially a new one, and asks a question in a Hardware forum, I'm sure he'll be expecting to get a related answer - now an answer that's either laughing at him, off-topic, or, in your case - flamey.

Second, I never demanded an answer, all I wanted was, that if a member was GOING to answer, make in on-topic, related, and useful. Any other type of answer is the sort that fits in the Lounge. Don't you think?

Now, I never insulted you, or anyone else here, so that remark of yours at the end of the post is out of order. So, now I am also pretty sure I won't get a proper helpful answer to my query, but I know it's not my fault at least..
