i have an xbox chipped with the aladin chip, i have since bought a new hard drive to put into it.
this is my new hard drive, xbox 40gb seagate harddrive with slayer 2.6
this is all installed
plus 30 games
dvd movie player region free
xbox media player
xbox media centre
pxhddloader
dvd2xbox
self installed emulators.
and also the slayer 2.6 disc.

i was wondering if i can just open the xbox and put this in, and it will work right away?
or do i need to do something else with it? please help as i have no idea
and if i need to do something to make it work please give details as i have never done this before

look at singaboiy's guide to softmodding the xbox it includes how to install a harddrive. I think you can use the program he says to use to back up your files and create an iso. Then you can burn the iso to a disc and load it to the new harddrive once connected to the xbox.

Just try putting it in and see what happens. I don't think it would damage anything if u tried.

Having a modchip makes it alot easier to install a new hd into your xbox then with just the softmod.

The simple was would be to copy the UDATA and the other folder (i think its EDATA, cant remember right now :( ). And the folder your games are in. Do this by connecting through FTP. You'll need plenty of space to do this.

Then stick in the new hd and use SlaYer's disc to format it and install any additional programs (i.e. dvd2xbox). Then just copy all the gamesaves (UDATA) and game folders to the xbox.
